Seems if you do the quest to turn jani trashpiles into scrap machines, you can’t turn them anymore for rep.

Ya. I discovered this as well today. Every pile I go to behaves like a scapper rather than Jani (and I have scrapped stuff at the Pier Jani pile). While nice to have, I have an island flotsam that is taking space in my bags/bank.
