Can't time m+ keys as resto

What are some general tips i can use to improve?

What lvl are you attempting?

I think heroic gives 430 right now. It’s worth banging out a few more of those to raise your ilvl a little bit.

I’m doing between 6 and 9 keys on my 455 druid(not this one) (idk how to change the character)

You playing right now? I can run through a few.

Sure , Beryon-quelthalas it’s my main

Need Battletag

It’s worth noting that Bursting is super difficult on lower keys. Stuff does fast, so bursting stacks fast and has a grater chance at rolling stacks. It actually requires more hps to heal through bursting at a +7 than at a +20, even assuming equally competent groups.

I wouldnt take low keys seriously as a gauge on how you are healing. I could heal a 17 better than a 10 given how bad ppl are at lower keys. If the group isnt wiping more than a couple times and you still aren’t timing, that’s a dps issue.

Yup, that was the problem. lows keys are no fun with bursting.
Ran a 6, 8 then finished with a 10.
On the 6 my TD was melting trash and I had to assist with heals in between pulls.
On the 10 he did it all by himself.

10 was likely the easiest, aside from getting feared on Samh’rek and falling through the platform. yay!

Man I had a couple in the 10-12 range this week that were making me like 80k on several pulls; those groups would not have survived a 17

@Aleriz take this to heart. DPS when you can (and with a good group there will be plenty of opportunity to do so), but if the group isn’t wiping (or stalling due to DCs or something), it is 99.9% DPS fault if you aren’t timing.

3K io resto druid here…

I looked up your character (Beryon - QT) and there are some notable changes that can improve your ability to heal effectively in mythic plus. While having the correct tools for the job is definitely important, being able to use them effectively and efficiently vastly outweigh your tools in determining your success as a healer.

Talents - Since you posted this during a bursting week, a reliable talent setup for dealing with higher stacks of bursting is Prosperity (row 15) and Soul of the Forest (row 75). Using a swiftmend followed by wild growth will significantly increase your rapid aoe healing potential. The setup you have (cenarion ward and cultivation) is generally very good in non-bursting weeks.

Photosynthesis is probably the most important talent choice for mythic plus. This allows lifebloom to act as both a kind of tank cooldown and a raid cooldown. Read the tooltip, practice spreading lifebloom to targets getting focused hard and lifebloom yourself for big aoe healing.

Essences - You seem to be focused on healing throughput essences. That may be personal choice or limited availability. Crucible major is extremely popular, and is almost always used for damage, but it can be used for healing in a pinch. You should pursue conflict and strife minor (can get rank 2 quickly, but rank 3 is an extended grind that you may not have time for), ever-rising tide, and formless void for your general purpose minors. They all have interactions that can improve both your healing and your damage. Other noteworthy minor essences include spirit of preservation (useful for heavy single target healing such as kings rest) well of existence, lucid dreams, and vitality conduit. Vitality conduit is often used as a major essence during necrotic weeks as it is not affected by necrotic stacks.

Talents - For mythic plus you want to use as many grove tending and heart of darkness as you can. Grove tending is especially good if you use the prosperity/soul build for the extra casts of swiftmend. You should also look into high noon and possibly rampant growth. While rampant growth can be useful, it is a convenience choice that is not necessary.

Playstyle - This is the most important aspect of play. Until you are running very high keys (mid 20s and higher) you should primarily be stacking haste and mastery. Knowing how resto druid mastery works is a vital part of healing in mythic plus. Our mastery increases the effectiveness on all healing based on the number of our hots on a given target. For instance, if you have 20% mastery and three hots on a target, ALL of your healing is increased by 60% on that target. This REQUIRES resto druids to proactively spread hots to effectively heal large incoming damage. When you know big group damage is coming, you should ensure that you have rejuv on every target, regrowth if you can/have the time, and that as many people have the hot from spring blossoms. Then, as the damage begins, make sure lifebloom is on yourself and wild growth. Spot heal with regrowth/swiftmend and refresh hots as they fall off. If you see that the hots you have flowing are not keeping your group healthy, hit tranquility. If you are doing all of these things well, you should be able to heal through a 10 stack of bursting (or more) while tranquility is running.

If you are not able to consistently heal a 4 stack of bursting without people dying, then you should look at your talents/essences/gear AND importantly see if people are continuing to take unnecessary damage during a bursting stack.

At the end of the day, healing well is largely dependent on your setup, but also the ability of your party to reduce/heal incoming damage WITHOUT YOUR ASSISTANCE. If no one is helping you (personal cooldowns, health potions, dodging mechanics), even a stellar healer will struggle to heal through a moderate amount of bursting.

Is there a way to check what combination of talents are best for different affixes?

with regards to azerite traits I’m a bit confused because every guide i look for m+ has different recommendations , some say high noon and autumn leaves are the most important while other sites will give me a different answer but heart of darkness seems to be a staple among all

Any guide that says use autumn leaves in m+ you should just leave that website.

I’ve always used icy-veins , which sites are better for info?

i can’t posts link on the forum but if you check the azerite traits for resto it says autum leaves is s-tier , so i’m a bit confused

You can use autumn leaves for raiding, its not useful for m+ since you’ll usually have spring blossoms rolling. I would worry less about azerite traits and more about gear stat allocation. If you have at least 1 Grove tending then anything after that is just bonus but not going to help you remotely as much as having the right essences or gear stats. Just aim for haste and mastery, you can add versatality if you need more durability. Then earn the dungeon mechanics as well. It doesn’t help to have all the gear in the world if you don’t know when to properly prepare for damage spikes.

Knowledge and skill will make you a better player, far more than stats and talents will.

It’ll take time to get yourself adjusted to a playstyle that you prefer. The day someone else tells you how to play, what talents and stats to choose is the day you’ll hate the game.

I realized that the Icy Vein guildes maximize throughtput as much as possible. When you’re in the real world and the chaos happens, it’s not your talents and stats that will save the group, it’s how well you can dance with the music. In other words, find your prefered playstyle and practice it in ANY situation. When you master it, you may not top the charts but, you can be a great asset and snipe with surgical precision.

Define your role and enojoy doing it.

This is true to a certain point, where a requisite amount of skill/knowledge is absolutely required to perform a function. However, using the optimal tools with the requisite skill will increase the productivity and function of an individual. You do not have to be on the cutting edge to benefit from technology/skills developed at that level. This applies both to WoW and real life.

Unfortunately, this is just not realistic. There are clearly some aspects of a class that are superior than others. If a person is playing the game just to have fun (which is one important part of games), then they are not going to come to forums asking for advice on how to improve or attain a certain goal. The OP specifically asked for tips to improve their playing abilities.

As with all things, it is best to take information from a plethora of sources, experiment, and figure out what works best for your situation. In the current state of the game, innovation is happening rapidly, and some websites are simply not updated often enough. Information that is three or four months (or more) old is widely regarded as out-of-date and potentially inaccurate. Websites such as mythic+ subcreation are wonderful tools, but you must take the context into consideration. The top level information does not always transfer or apply well to mid- and low-level situations. For example, healers at the top end are virtually required to do as much damage as they can in order to help progress through the key. They are playing with the best players in the world at the end of the expansion where they have played through the same dungeons for two years. They take such little unnecessary damage that extraneous healing is not required much of the time. This allows them to make decisions that retain a moderate or low amount of healing in favor of a high amount of damage. Enter: versatility builds and damage essences/azerite traits. A resto druid who can focus on damage is able to output a significant amount of dps throughout the run. Many top-end resto druids (and other healing classes) are exceeding 50k dps for a run. To put that into perspective, many pug dps in 10s cannot attain 50k dps for the dungeon.

Unless you are pushing the top end, you have to take that information with a grain of salt. If you are primarily pugging, you must take extra healing tools because you will simply have to heal more because of others’ (and your own) mistakes.

The best way to get information is class discord channels. But you must make sure you’re fully informing people of your skill level and your desires on what to improve. You’re going to get a lot of different opinions (like here) and experimentation is required to make your best decisions.

Good luck
