With patch 10.1.5, the following changes were implemented:
- The maximum level in Chromie Time is now 61 (was level 60).
- Chromie Time expansion restrictions have been removed.
I’ve seen a lot of discussion about what the second change could mean, but a week after the patch I don’t think anyone has figured it out. My question and possible bug report is more about the first change anyway.
Prior to the patch, the first time you zoned into Stormwind or Orgrimmar after hitting level 58 would auto-bestow a quest onto you to speak with Chromie, as well as forcibly pull you out of Chromie Time. I believe finishing this quest would irrevocably lock you out of Chromie Time, but as long as you didn’t finish it, you could go back to Chromie and jump back into Chromie Time until level 60 at which point you would pulled back to the present again and Chromie would no longer offer any services.
With the most recent patch, you are no longer pulled out at level 60, but Chromie still doesn’t offer any Chromie Time options at that level. Is this intentional? I was hoping to be able to lock my level at 60 and jump around doing the different timelines, but in order to do that, you still need to lock at 59 just as before.
I’ve also heard that the XP disabler NPCs are also not working at level 60, so unless you haven’t upgraded to Dragonflight, you would quickly gain enough experience to hit level 61 and be forcibly brought back to the present anyway.
Is this working as intended? The patch notes made it sound like a cool little expansion of Chromie Time but instead it just seems like all it does is give players another hour or so to do a few more quests or a couple more dungeons before pulling them out of Chromie Time forever just as before, since once you’re level 60 you can’t lock your XP or switch timelines.

Bonus bug!
Tangentially related (and something I also reported back in March), the Dungeon Finder in Chromie Time is pretty broken once you level past 50. Upon hitting 51, any dungeon that wasn’t labeled as being for 10-60 (or 10-61 now after 10.1.5) disappears from the Dungeon Finder - making it impossible to queue for it.

This is the Dungeon Finder on this level 59 character in Cataclysm Chromie Time - note the complete lack of actual Cataclysm dungeons such as Stonecore or Vortex Pinnacle, and how the only dungeons available are marked as being for level 10 to 61.

Here’s a picture from a level 50 character in Cataclysm Chromie Time. Too many dungeons to fit into one screenshot, but it shows the important bits - the Cataclysm dungeons are available at the top of the list, and it also shows that higher-level old world dungeons like Dire Maul are available. Despite all of their level ranges being listed as going up to level 61, only dungeons listed as ‘10-61’ are still available to be queued for at level 51 or above. ‘15-61’ or ‘30-61’ dungeons disappear from the Dungeon Finder at level 51.
