Can't start War Within campaign quest with alt

The quest animation starts and the characters phase in for a second then phase out in Silithus. Cannot start the quest line.

Same issue here on my 4th alt.

my alt warrior is level 73 (my 4th alt), I can’t accept the quest when I log into the toon. It pops up and thrall talks it says I receive teleport scroll (I don’t.) I hit accept then nothing, empty quest log.

I wanted to check this out for myself, as a friend of mine reported the same issue. For the time being, I have found a workaround and have replicated successful results twice with this method. It goes like this: once you teleport to Silithus and Thrall disappears (if that happens for you), go talk to Zidormi in the NE corner of the zone. Have her swap timelines to before the wound, then have her swap back to the present time. Then, pick up the quest “The War Within” from your travel journal/suggested content (shift+j) and use the scroll from your bag to teleport. You should then be able to speak with Thrall and continue on with your quest.

Cannot use Dalaran hearthstone to try from there. Quest taken in Stormwind “The War Within!” says to go to Silithis and talk to Jaina… You get there and there is an angry mob of players and NO JAINA. If you relog, you can get her to pop for 2 seconds (everyone can see her during this time) and then vanish again.

There’s an easy fix for this.

Take the Dornogal portal in Orgrimmar or Stormwind

It’s literally that easy. You’ll skip all the start experience and wind up in TWW.

2nd workaround:

  1. Stand exactly where Jaina or Thrall will be (right next to tent/angry mob of players).
  2. log off to character screen
  3. log back in and click on your quest giver immediately when you land back in game. You have 2 seconds to do this.

My remix character had no such portal option in the hub

I suggest you look harder, because I just checke don one of my Remix characters, and it’s there.

Another Work Around That Work For Me:

  1. Stand so you are facing where Thrall phased out.
  2. Logout of the game back to character select
  3. Login and right-click on Thrall before he phases out and turn in the “TWW” quest
  4. Take Follow Up quest.

Not sure if #4 is needed to break out of the bug, but it work perfectly for me. Took a couple of tries because I wasn’t facing him the first time, and I hit “Show Me What Happened” by accident the second time. Third time was the charm.

Have you confirmed that you don’t need the quest to start the chain? I know Jaina will port you after Magni’s vision, but I figured you still needed the bread-crumb quest to start the whole thing.

I really can’t jump all the pre-quests with my alt and start quests at Dornogal??

My first and second alts were able to pick up the quest because I hadn’t completed the campaign.

Finished the campaign on my one of them and now all additional alts go to Dornogal via the portal, but the only quest available is from the paladin chick to do 6 world quests.

Did those and don’t see any option to do the campaign. What am I missing?

I had the same problem on one of my alts. I found out that I actually completed the first quest War Within but then could not pick up the next quests of the story line.

I went to Dalaran and couldn’t find the NPC for next quest Slept Like a Rock and Dalaran was different than shown in other youtube videos.

I also noticed that my Dalaran Hearthstone wouldn’t work. I decided to do the questline to fix the Dalaran Hearthstone. After doing this I went back to Dalaran and the NPC for Slept Like a Rock was there and I could continue with the War Within story line.
