Can't start the Mechagnome questline

I have earned the achievement and followed every guide I can find online…the questline still will not be offered. I completed the achievement on the Horde faction. Then using my lvl 60 Alliance Faction character go to the Embassy and nothing.
Please help…

If you haven’t unlocked Mechagon on the alliance character, you should be able to get the quest to start Mechagon “Fame Waits for Gnome One” from Gila Crosswires in the Embassy. (You still have to unlock Mechagon Island on the character, but this lets you skip Naz’jatar.) I saw a comment that she can take a bit of time to phase in, so don’t immediately run out of the embassy if you don’t see her.

Unfortunately, there’s not a ton of Dragonflight specific info, so it’s hard to know if anything changed. (Although a lack of info does also mean there aren’t a whole lot of people having issues.)

So, if you haven’t done any BfA on the Alliance character, I’d do the following:

  1. Complete the BfA intro by picking up Tides of War from the Herald NPC next to the Hero’s Call board. (This questline can cause all sorts of phasing issues in Stormwind, so it’s best to just get it done. If you skip the cutscenes, it’s pretty quick.)

  2. Pick up your Heart of Azeroth by picking up the quest “A Dying World” from the Earthen Guradian NPC.

  3. Unlock World Quests by completing “Uniting Kul Tiras” from Halford Wyrmbane.

At that point, head back to the Embassy and see if you can get the quest from Gila. If it’s not there, I’d start searching for other quests that might be causing phasing issues in Stormwind. (Things like having the Shadowlands quest or Cataclysm zone intro quests active in your log or really any quests that take you into Stormwind.)

Thank you for the feedback! I will give that a try. I think you’re about it being a phasing issue with Stormwind. I’m going to try dumping my quest log.

Were you ever able to get Gila Crosswires to show up? I have also completed the achievements on a Horde character and would now like to unlock Mechagnomes, but Gila is not in the Embassy. Alliance character is 70

Some things to check:

Make sure you have trivial quest tracking turned on.

Complete the BfA intro. You can see if you’ve done this by seeing if the character you are on has completed the “Come Sail Away” achievement. Make sure that the character has completed it, not just that it’s completed on the account. (The starter quest should be on the Herald NPC next to the Hero’s Call board.)

Check for other quests that can cause phasing issues in Stormwind.

  • If you see the death knights camped out in front of Stormwind Keep, do the Shadowlands intro quests up to the point where you’ve got the portal back to Stormwind open. (Using the Maw/Threads of Fate skips are fine.)
  • The Legion intro can also sometime create issues. (Check to see if you see Legion era NPCs around the Stormwind Harbor, and if you do, complete that intro.)
  • If you’ve started but not completed some of the Cataclysm intro quests, those can also create issues.
  • The Locket quest from the Broken Shore can cause phasing issues, so if you’ve started it (or even just unlocked the Broken Shore content) try completing this chain.
  • The BfA War Campaign can cause phasing issues, so if you’ve started it, you may have to quest past whatever is causing phasing issues. (Although this is a much bigger issue Horde-side.)
