My raiding guild on retail have a thing where we all /spit on each other for fun. I know what you’re thinking but it’s a long inside joke.
How could this happen?
You also can’t link items in chat on the PTR. Are you going to make a thread connecting that with your issues?
You can /split and it work untargetted. You target someone? Doesn’t work.

I’m curious, what does the /spit emote have to do with alleged sexual misconduct at the company? Apples and oranges 
Something like removing NPCs named after certain company employees makes sense… removing unrelated ingame emotes doesn’t.
Unfortunately, it looks like WoW will be getting the Disney/SJW watering-down treatment 
Odds are more likely that immature children liked to spam /spit on people who had store bought items than the sexual misconduct at the company. I still don’t know if it’s actually gone or if it’s PTR shenanigans, because…I mean PTR. But it’s one of those emotes that doesn’t have any associated sound or animation, so it’s such a small deal to make out of things in my opinion.
If they get rid of any sexual harassment emote, they should be getting rid of /massage
/spit was a stupid emote to begin with.
I for one won’t be sad to see it gone.
