I have tried a few times to switch from range healing but it doesn’t seem to click for me. People keep dying. Why is it so difficult?
my build is a mix of fistweaving and range healing it did take some time to master it.
Idk. I went back to fully range and it was super relaxing. Timed all my +10 dungeons today with 2 stars as range. Even had time to stand and do nothing some times. Just wanted to try melee for all the new 11.1 changes.
Sidebar. I love how the staff of fu’zan is just looming in the foreground on your characters avatar picture.
Where do they tend to die? Is it like big damage moments or just during normal pulls
I remember trying maybe 3 dungeons. Probably begining of Ara Kara with the constant poison dots from 1st boss trash. Then alerting shrill and gossamer was bad as melee too. I think stonevault begining trash as well. Lots of AoE damage. Can’t remember what else. Just remember a lot of panic and group fell apart.
Im so used to Peer into peace + env mist + Mending proliferation > spam vivify for random aoe damage.
I play FW a lot different than most so just throwing that out there first.
I play a crit/vers build with some haste and just play it like your another DPS in the group, just smash damage buttons to parse on damage.
Personally I don’t think haste build is very good although peak / guides do. Without crit vers, your heals do very little, which means more spamming to keep everyone up, and your kicks are weak too.
I always try to get 15% haste and then stack crit vers. I play crit wep enchant so that when the wep procs during secret infusion, I’m basically sitting at like ~25% crit 33% vers and then when I pop chiji I gain another 20% haste putting me at like 31% haste. This 25/33/31 stat distribution is really good damage. With focused thunder you have 3 guaranteed RSKs during this window AND a crackling jade lightning.
Basically you just try to pump as much as you can and use chi ji as a dps cooldown but you want to “burst” at slightly different times than the dps classes. They want to burst on the opener, and you do too as long as there are no healing events. If you are aware of an upcoming healing event, most of the time crackling jade lightning can just top everyone off instantly. You’ll want to do a thunder focus tea into rising sun kick first before crackling jade lightning so that you benefit from the secret infusion versatility.
Before any chi ji you’ll want to tiger palm twice so that way you can burst really hard and just do as much damage as possible during Evokers Delight. Most of the time I don’t even bother casting the Evan’s during chi ji because the damage is better.
Some other things are, almost always keep EvM on the tank. If you play my build which has Tea of Serenity, then you’ll usually be sitting on instant cast charges of EvM.
No need to spam ReM but just use it strategically to apply chi Harmony and then you can follow up with instant vivify if necessary.
I press Jadefire Stomp pretty liberally. It’s decent aoe healing and damage. Typically I’ll use this whenever I’ve run out of RSK and I use BoK but it doesn’t proc a reset. It’s not going to save anyone but will make you keep higher dps uptime. Just make sure you’re positioning yourself so you can hit all the mobs and as many party members as is convenient.
Pop Revival when you need it. It’s a cooldown, don’t sit on it. You should be getting uses every 2 min or so. Same thing with chi cocoon. You should use it liberally.
Same thing with Expel Harm. This ability is really really strong with a crit vers build.
Typically for really big aoe pulses, it’s common to EvM ramp on the DPS, pop Fortifying Brew and use Expel harm on yourself while spamming the other members with vivify.
At a certain point the DPS healing won’t be enough and you’ll have to resort to traditional EvM ramp + vivify spam. But that’s ok. That’s why it’s called fist weaving.
Sometimes you also don’t use your Crackling Jade lightning offensively but rather defensively. You can hold onto it for 30s, so even though it’s technically best to use it during secret infusion you don’t have to. An example would be on fights like the second boss in dawn breaker. You have to stagger your cooldowns very efficiently to top everyone off after each orb and then also during the pulsing damage.
Also, when in doubt, just start soomweaving. Even if you are using crit vers you’ll be slow but all of your heals hit so hard. It’s very common to just hit renewing mist → vivify and instantly top someone from 30-40% health and then resume damage.
Hope this helps let me know if you have any questions
Thanks for the write up. Ill give it a try.
