Cant run wow classic on Mac OS m1 sonoma

Hi all,

Having an error occur when opening wow classic on my m1 macbookpro running sonoma beta 14.0 I’ve ran wow on this macbook for a couple years now and runs perfect on my ultrawide 49inch monitor. Retail still works fine having no issues running retail.

Recently been craving to play classic and now frustrated this wont work.

Have tried reinstalling game files several times + scan and repair multiple times and has not worked. Also tried granting permissions via full disk in privacy settings, that did not work either.

Here is the error im getting:

I am in the same boat. I don’t expect beta OS support, but since the Retail client works fine, I sort of expected Classic to follow suit.

I should note that the Classic PTR with the hardcore realm does launch and run.

I’m surprised you can even install the game. My installation is stuck on initiation phase since almost 2 months already. Also running Sonoma beta m1pro 14 inch MacBook Pro.

This is fixed in todays patch for classic era btw. 1.14.4 runs on Sonoma

Confirmed this works!!!

In the meantime, I used apple game porting tool kit and downloaded windows client on the beta. it worked perfectly xD

thank you all

Crashes for me when trying to connect to WOW Classic Cataclysm.
Plays through the cinematic but then just crashes everytime.
I’m just going to reinstall OS Monterey and hope that works.

It’s a problem that seems to only affect Intel Macbooks running Sonoma. I downgraded to Ventura and WoW is working fine. However, I resent that I’m missing out on Sonoma features because it’s incompatible with WoW. Although I wish Blizzard could do something about it, I actually blame Apple for this. They make fundamental changes to their operating system and then expect every third-party developer to play catch up in order to keep their product going.
