I was given two options to resolve my issue by multiple(3x) GMs (Neither of them actually resolve my issue though)
- Rename the active character that has the desired name
- Delete the active character that has the desired name
Problem with #1 - There’s no renaming service in SOD
Problem with #2 - My other character would be stuck deleted
So they need to either add a name change feature in SOD or give one the ability to change one’s name when restoring (should be a one time feature activated by a GM so people can’t exploit this)
I have about 75 hours invested into the deleted character that I’d really rather not have to restart
They did this a while ago to prevent people from getting free name changes.
Understandable if there’s a purchasable name change feature, but there isn’t
The moment they put in a name change option for $ … the forums will erupt with how greedy blizz is because they’re putting in a feature for money on a seasonal version of wow.
Maybe consider not naming a character after a character you opted to delete?
make a ticket and they will restore it
Did you miss the first sentence of what the OP wrote?
“Maybe consider not naming a character after a character you opted to delete?”
I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect people to know that there will be no way to get a deleted character back if their name is in use. Especially when blizzard was advertising the whole character xfer process as free.
Context:
-Had an alliance warrior on Crusader strike that I leveled to 58 before the realm merger
-Had a level 60 horde warrior on Lone wolf that was my main
-Xferred off the dying server to the new server and wanted my main to keep my main name as that’s something I care about and is pragmatic as that is what I’m known as
-Had to delete my level 58 warrior to do this
I’m facing the same issue;
When I open a ticket i’m told I can only restore the character by deleting the character that currently holds the name. Problem is that’s my main. So my alt druid is still stuck deleted, and I’m unable to restore him.
