So links, and images. I see other people post em, why can’t I?

In addition to what Jason said:

Use the </> button (highlight the URL first) to format URLs in a way that will allow you to post them. You can still post URLs, they just can’t be direct hyperlinks.

You either need to earn trust 3 as stated above or be in beta which automatically gives you trust 3 (presumably until beta ends).
