“A character with that name already exists”. 50/50 chance of getting stuck in loading screens followed by alt f4’ing into this.
This is happening to a LOT of players. Spending my little free time that I actually have staring at character select screen is getting old.
There is something going on…I just logged into my main. Couldn’t use the portal to Org. Joined a BG but rather than getting ported just stayed in Valdrakken. Flew to another part of the map but nothing is loading…seems like Valdrakken has become Hotel California.
Same here, for some reason only on Tichondrius. Alliance toon on Dalaran is fine. I can log in, within 2 mins in game I can’t do anything, then I get kicked out, and the dreaded character already exists. I have to AltF4… and it repeats.
Edit: Now I can’t log off, but can do everything else.
Now in the middle of a freaking dungeon, 70% of the way thru I get randomly dc’d and cant log back in. Character already in use.
Been having issues all weekend. Portals not working, Hearth stones not working. long loading screens and 50/50 chance of logging on. Tichondrius server.
Sometimes, if you you log into a second character, run around for a minute, and then log back into the character that you couldn’t get on, it will clear itself up.

I’m having this same problem across multiple characters as well. Just stuck on a full load bar, it’s clearly something on blizzards end with how many of my friends are experiencing the exact same thing.
The same thing is happening to me. I was able to get online once, but then I was booted and can’t get past a loading screen without an error. 
Would be nice if they could update the launcher indicating that people are having problems connecting.
Just to add, I also have been having issues logging into characters and being stuck on loading screen. And a new one just now where I took a flightpath to ZC from Valdrakken and near the end of the flight, after it started going into the cavern, it went through a boulder wall and then I was under the world in Ohn’ahran Plains and I’m stuck, can’t hearth. I’m going to try the automated move character function in a minute.
SoP, make a tweak to the game that breaks it, then go on vacation.
Having this right now on WRA, but only with Characters in Valdrakken.
Mutliple characters for me as well, both my shaman and my monk cannot leave valdrakken I keep trying to move them to another zone and /camp but my game just freezes on the /camp and then alt f4 into a character with that name already exists
