Can't (or How to Get Your Recipes to) Make Legendary Base Items

So I have my main, a priest who can’t make the base items for his legendaries. So I ran my tailor through the opening quests and then levelled his tailoring to 100, thinking I could then get the recipe to make the base item needed. But the trainer that has it did not have it listed. But in tailoring on the character’s tailoring list of recipes, in unlearned, there is the recipe. But it had the level 60 part in red. Hence, I spent a lot of time levelling him to 60. Now at sixty, I go to the trainer, and he still does not show the recipe as available. What am I missing here? I don’t understand.

I believe it was a quest to get those recipes. Though I don’t remember from where of the top of my head.

Edit: I think it is the runecarver that gives you the recipes. So you have to do the Torghast quest line.

Yup, you are correct. I looked it up and found out you get it from the Runecarver. But now, my tailor is standing at the place where the portal is to see the Runecarver. Only the portal is not there. :open_mouth: Now what?

Now you run torghast for the key to unlock his door. Got mine when you go in to save baine

You have to do the questline which is part of the introductory questline for Torghast. Once you do that, you can then talk to him and he gives you the patterns.

I had the same problem and eventually caved and started doing more this in torghast and unlocking the jailor will unlock the base recipes for sure.

Yup, you need to do the quest to save Baine, and then two or three after that. Then you have your recipes.

In summary in case anyone wonders how to get these recipes here are the steps:

  1. Level Tailoring (or Blacksmithing or whatever) to 100.
  2. Level your tailor/crafting profession toon/alt to 60.
  3. Do your intro Sanctum quests.
  4. Do your initial Torghast quests including saving Baine. The quest to save Baine requires you to do a full run and kill the boss on the sixth floor. After killing the boss you can free Baine.
  5. Then do two or three more quests, one in the Maw, and then breaking one of the Runecarvers bonds. After this you can take a quest from the Runecarver.
  6. Turn in the quest at your trainer, and you are good to buy your base recipes, and make your base items.
