Cant Malfurion fix it?

Since Fandral was a weaker and less knowledgeable druid than Malfurion, and Fandral grew Teldrassil, shouldn’t Malfurion be able to fix Teldrassil or grow another one pretty easily if the former option isn’t possible?

Granted, this wont bring back all the dead night elves, but at least it’ll give the night elves their home back and possibly boost morale.

They could probably grow another world tree, though it wouldn’t be able to be blessed by the aspects anymore. The question is whether it is worth the effort and energy. They grew Teldrassil originally to try and get back their immortality. That just isn’t going to happen now since there are no aspects.

I mean, they weren’t supposed to grow it in the first place. I doubt he’d regrow it, especially with no one to live in it.

Nordrassil has probably regrown enough to move back into by now anyway.

Malfurion kind of lost all of his powers

When did this happen? And How? Did Cenarius bite it again?

In BfA where he couldn’t do anything to protect his people, and couldn’t kill an undead archer even when he had the Night Warrior on his side.

They severely depowered him to some average night elf druid unfortunately, just like Tyrande. I don’t think there’s any canonical explanation.

Oh, so he is just as useless as ever huh, okay, had me confused there for a moment, thanks.

For Tyrande, meta wise, I think Blizz is doing this to shut up all the whiners who want the, savage and uncompromising Tyrande, they think existed in the past or something. Well she is certainly that now.
Story wise, I suspect it is another plot by Maiev to get rid of her.

Teldrassil was planted by Fandral without major approval, partly in an attempt to get Nozdormu to restore their immortality by imbuing his blessing on a new World Tree - an offer he refused because he found Fandral’s hubris to be insulting. Despite this, it provided a good place for the Night Elves to call home after much of the events of the second invasion. Now the Aspects ESPECIALLY won’t bless it given that they have no real powers to bless it with.

So there’s no point to regrow a new tree, especially since the major loss was the people inside more than the tree itself.

I believe the term you’re looking for is plot armor.

Yeah, seems like he totally could alongside the other Circle druids.

He did not.

The only purpose I can see is symbolism. Which is part of why they still decided to settle it after the fact.

Taking an axe to the back would have been a good excuse to leave a lasting wound on him that could have nerfed him so he’s not a walking plot hole and questions like these wouldn’t plague the story quite as much. That sadly did not happen.

Ahh, got it, the whole “Him Holding off an entire army on his own” thing wasn’t sufficient, simply because a Sylvie we now know is death-juicing was able to fight him WITH help? Seriously, how blunt does Blizzard have to be about Sylvie having powers she shouldn’t have in all of these conflicts with demigods before people take the hint that were supposed to find that odd. Hell, I’d say its safe to say she buffing the crap out of Nate and her Primes as well at this point.

Malfrion could grow a Worldtree, as far as I know he grew Nordrassil.

What prevents him are the writers that instead wrote intercontinental catapults into the story that ignite a mountain of fresh wood with literally the worst surface to volume ration in mere seconds.

It was just an extended midsummer festival

Does it even need to be blessed by the Aspects anymore?

It isn’t even clear wether or not the blessings are destroyed on Teldrassil.
World trees tend to regrow pretty fast and easyly. Nordrassil started regrowing after completely blowing up.

The Blessings are basically permenant buffs on NEs.

i think this will be a case of “THis iS Not tHE sTOry wE WantED tO TelL”.

That was Alexstraza, Nozdormu, and Ysera.

They only placed the blessings on th etree as far as I know.

The Chronicle says Alextrasza grew it on page 114.
The Sundering has a long scene where the three aspects grow it together while blessing it (the two happen in tandem). Malfurion, Tyrande, and others just watch. This is in chapter twenty-two.
