Can't Loot Item?

Hey folks!

Occasionally I have this in-game issue where all of a sudden, I can’t pick up any items. It doesn’t usually happen right away, but when it does, I can click on the mob, mailbox, or whatever so that the box opens up and shows me the items, but when I click on the item, nothing happens. Even if I try to use another mouse.

Re-logging usually fixes the issue, but this can be a real problem if I’m trying to get footage for a video. Has anyone else ever experienced this? If so, is this a known issue? And can it be fixed without logging out and logging back in?

If you run into the issue again i would try to disable addons one by one to see if they have anything to do with it… I have dealt with something similar before and it was due to a addon.

Do you know which addon it was? I do have a few installed, but it’s mainly for gathering herbs :slight_smile:

You could try typing /reload UI in the chat box - that usually fixes a lot of these kinds of things for me.

I do not remember the individual addon no, sometimes addons do some wacky things anytime anything happens i always check them out first.

I am so tired of every solution Blizzard will have you log out of game or restart a quest for all the annoying bugs in this game, rather then DOING their JOB and fixing them. Quit being lazy Blizzard. You charge us all subs every month and have been so for many many years. Use the money to get a BUG team and fix these bugs that have existed for so many years. This will be your biggest downfall if you dont.

It’s still not fixed, so yes thats why I posted. Quit trolling, its still a bug so it’s not complaining. GTFO carebear

Never faced this bug. Yes, sometimes it happens if my connection is slow. Or if my bags are full. Or, theoretically, some addon interfering with stuff. None of these are a bug in the game.

It’s a bug when multiple people report the same issue. If blizzard states restarting your game is a work around, that’s just a work around solution , not a fix and therefore yes it’s a bug. Regardless i didn’t come here to argue, just came here to point out that someone a year ago posted about a similar issue and it’s not fixed.

How many addons you got running? There might be some that are stopping auto loot or trying to do auto loot and bugging out your game.

If you have AdvancedInterfaceOptions (and if you don’t, get it), go into the CVar Browser and check what autolootDefault is set to, 1 means it will auto loot and 0 means it won’t.

If you see a red text below this like Last Modified By: Interface\AddOns\XYZ\XYZ.lua:1234 than that should tell you what addon is modifying the settings and stopping it from working.

I’m having the same issue rn. I got a subscription to upgrade off the free version and I can’t loot anything. Buy items from shops. Sell items to shops. Get items out of my mailbox… Etc

Is this not just loot lag? It’s been a thing since vanilla but it usually just takes a few seconds to sort itself out so maybe it is an addon issue. You can try showing your lua errors, updating or disabling addons etc.
