I tried many times to create a character since August 12 using Simplified Chinese client of WoW Classic, but whenever I click the server name I got an error message saying “The language of the server you are trying to log in is different from your WoW client.”
The Simplified Chinese WoW Classic client has been broken since the stress test, but the Traditional Chinese is ok.
I also tried with 1.13.2 (31446) and 1.13.2 (31650), they all got the same error message.
I found that the same problem happened with the BFA client two months ago:
I guess the classic client issue was caused by the same reason as BFA client happened in June.
However, I would like to believe that this is only a technical issue not because of banning Simplified Chinese.
Could you take some time to review this issue?
I really appreciate your help.
Thanks.
I’m thinking it’s a technical issue - not some ban on simplified Chinese. The best place would be to post on the Classic Bug Report forum. It is likely to be seen there by the Classic Dev team.
Update: I changed my mind after I did some research: The Classic Bug Report forum is rarely responded by Blizzard (last response 10 days ago), at the same time all technical support request for classic WoW has been solved quickly in Technical Support forum.
You will rarely see a reply on the Bug Report forums. It’s report only. They are monitored. This forum is not monitored by QA. It is actually a Player help Player forum. The Forum Agents you see post only come and go as their regular duties permit.
You could open a ticket to ensure your voice is heard. That is the only form of Official support.
Lol, you are the most helpful guy in this Player help Player forum
Thanks for your advice again and I have opened a ticket by using your link:)
update:
GM replied my ticket with “I’m sad to say that I don’t have a workaround that I can provide you here.”
And the GM try to teach me how to download a Chinese WoW by giving me a link of three years old reddit thread.
It seems that the ticket is used for in-game issues not technical issues.
Update 2:
Another reply from my ticket:
“To report the issue to the people that have the power to fix / change it you need to do so in game or on the forums.”
We fixed this a little while ago actually and we don’t have the problem when we test on our end. Can you check your build of classic for us? It should display next to the “Play” button. (Version #.##.#.#####) - can you tell us what that number is for you?
Have you tried logging in using English, and does it make the problem go away?
I tried to login with simplified Chinese, still doesnt work, showing Chinese version “The language of the server you are trying to log in is different from your WoW client”
During testing, game version code is 1.13.2.31650
English version is also tested under the same condition, successfully entered the queue XD.
I did the test on my end and was able to reproduce it. We’re poking some folks now. For now, you’ll need to use a different language. Sorry for the inconvenience, but that’s the only work around we have until we can discover why this is happening and find a fix.
They generally don’t promise. No blue poster knows of their own knowledge; assuming the devs have even looked at it, they wouldn’t share an ETRO anyway. A projected fix date becomes a promise in the mind of a customer, and then a rock-hard deadline, then a reason to scream at the developers when a loose estimate is missed.
