I can’t log in from the sign screen. I get dc as soon as I put in my info. Classic wow works fine and so does the store. I been trying different methods but none seem to be working. also a few of my friends are on right now.
Hey there Simmssucks,
Thanks for reaching out with those details! We’ve seen similar behavior of a disconnect upon reaching the Character Select screen if you have Killer Networking software installed with the “Advanced Stream Detect” setting enabled. If you have a Killer Networking card, you can download the latest version of their software here.
If applicable, after you’re finished installing the most recent version of the software be sure to disable the “Advanced Stream Detect” setting in Killer Control Center (click the settings cogwheel on the bottom-left of the program).
If the above doesn’t apply and you don’t use Killer Networking software, try the following to narrow this down further:
- Try a DNS Flush to clear out any corrupted or stagnate data.
- Fully update or temporarily uninstall security programs which may be interfering with your connection to the server(s). More information on troubleshooting security applications here, if curious.
- Test an alternate network such as a mobile hotspot to determine whether the problem is isolated to your current network.
If you’re still unable to connect, please run a WinMTR network test so that we can further investigate the problem. Here are the instructions:
- Download the tool from this page
- In the “Host” field, enter “us.actual.battle.net” (without quotes).
- Start the test and launch the game and attempt to login as normal. Ensure the error occurs while the winMTR tool is running.
- After recording data for about 5 minutes, click “export text” and save the winMTR file in an easy to find location.
- Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the winMTR. It’ll look like this:

Hey there,
It looks like the problem is packet loss that’s happening in route to the game servers. Basically the test is starting off with 418 packets but ending up with ~200 once it finally reaches us! With over half the data lost it makes sense why login isn’t working.
A VPN service may be a temporary way around the issue but that is not a true fix. Any true fix would have to be conducted by the internet service provider that is having the problem. This is not always your service provider as they will use “Peer Networks” to route your signal around the world to anywhere it needs to go!
Providing the internet service provider with these test results should help them better understand the issue. They may need to escalate a case internally so they can reach out to the peer that’s having the problem.
I wish we had a more direct solution here but I do hope the info helps. Cheers!
But why is WOW classic working fine?
Update
I went to an internet café where I am still getting the same message. When I walked around I seen some other people playing shadowlands. So…
Hey there,
If we assume that it’s client related then, the most likely cause is addons or corrupt data. In that case we need to do a complete UI reset and rebuild everything from scratch. To do this, uninstall any addon managers (Twitch, Wowmatrix, Tukui Client, etc) then reset your UI. If you don’t uninstall addon managers first, it’ll break the UI reset process and we’ll be back at square one.
Now that this is done everything should be fixed. For now, don’t reinstall your addon managers. Instead, you want to manually install the most up to date versions of your addons. Do this one by one and if one breaks it again, reach out to the addon developer to let them know about the problem so they can fix it. After all this is done you should be safe to reinstall any addon managers you use.
Let me know if it’s still a problem after.
