im been in one spot for theb3 hours picking Mageroyal and Briarthorn and got only 1 point and the mageroyal is yellow and the briarthorn is orange

What race i the class? What level is your Herbalism?
Your race might have a Profession boost, or you can have a item that raises your level, making it more difficult to progress.
Maybe move to a different area and try different herbs. A wowhead guide may be able to provide more information.
