Can't launch game after latest SoD update

Game: Season of Discovery

Steps:

  1. Download most recent update
  2. Try to launch the game in either DirectX11 OR 12
  3. Note how the game refuses to launch without any sort of error

What I have tried:

  1. Scan & repair
  2. Forcing DirectX11 via command line -d3d11 flag
  3. Allowing DirextX12 by omitting -d3d11 flag

I have not downloaded/applied any Windows updates in the past week.

Not sure what else I should be trying but it seems like I’m effectively locked out of the game I’m paying a sub for due to a regression caused by an update.

Hardware Specs:

Device name ROG-Laptop
Processor AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.2 GB usable)
GPU AMD Radeon RX 6700S

Reinstalling does not help either, tried that a few times.

Interestingly enough after a fresh reinstall I get back memory access errors, i.e.

“The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000005)”
