Just updated my graphics driver, and now WoW will attempt to launch, but will never finish and just freeze up. Had this happen before. Usually a scan/repair fixes it, but its not working this time. Any clue what to do?
Update: Had to force close both Bnet and AMD control panel and now the games are launching again.
Same here. Both Classic_Era and Retail won’t launch, but Classic WotLK does for some reason. I have to uninstall and reinstall the others to get them to launch again. When I click Play, it shows an underlined “empty” icon on my taskbar and the cursor disappears, as if the game is launching, but nothing happens. If I click I get a full black screen. If I click again it turns white and the popup to end the program or wait for it to respond appears. I’ve tried the repair tool, I’ve tried renaming the Interface and WTF folders, but only uninstall and reinstall seems to get the game running again. This is a new issue and has now happened to my twice in the past week.
What is your GPU? my RX 7800 XT has been constantly causing gpu drivers to time out and do weird stuff to in-game graphics. Most recently it has even been forcing a reboot onto the pc. And it’s all because AMD can’t figure out how to fix their drivers.
RX 6650 XT with latest drivers here. Had the same problems with not being able to launch after today’s maintenance. Ran a Scan & Repair on WoW and it launched right away.
