Can't keep a good elf down! *Spoilers* Elisande

I just played through the scenario.

Thats another Elysande from another timeline, and maybe she wont ever go to this timeline.

More like she traverses the infinite and assures her survival while a version of her dies. She likely staged it similar to Vanessa Van Cleef. We all thought she died, but turns out she just staged her death and survived to present. Same with Elisande. One version “dies” while she survives by traversing the infinite timeways and mastering magics from artifacts she discovers. She wasn’t preserved in this scenario just to never be used again.

I bet this is our Elisande who will return to the main timeline just in time for Midnight and the elves uniting.

When they said elven tribes uniting, I was hoping for just the Quel’thalas elves honestly, and I still hope that’s the case. They have plenty of story without the Nightborne getting involved in some way. Not to mention Elisande doesn’t really need redemption, nor should she get it. Nightborne story does need a bit of rehabilitation after BfA, but that should be distinct, not coasting off the Blood Elf and High Elf and Void Elf stuff.

Echo of Elisande says: In all the possible futures I scryed, I did not foresee one in which you were victorious. I wonder…

I feel more certain now after having completed the questline that this cutscene is merely depicting Elisande as she “scryed possible futures” to keep Suramar safe, and her leaving the timeway is her returning to the point in time where her defeat brings about a future where Suramar is saved.

Not a fan of her sticking around. Elisande was a cool character with a satisfying arc that ended in redemption at the eleventh hour. She doesn’t need a do-over. If she goes home to improve whichever timeline spawned her, good; if not, I only hope her presence is so minor as to not undermine her successors.

That’s my issue with alternate universe and time traversal storylines; we can follow the logic of what we’re presented with and still ultimately be proven wrong. Only time will tell who’s in the right. :dracthyr_shrug:

This Elisande is from another timeway entirely. She is a variant of the one we knew, from before she made the choices she did. The disk was never supposed to be there, that entire timeline was disrupted by its existence as Elisande was never supposed to learn how to escape her own timeline entirely.

And we sorta let her loose on the multiverse. I am sure this is fine.

I really liked Elisande from the comic, as she seemed like a conflicted character making hard choices, thinking it was the best for her people.

They were morally grey or outright black, but she felt there was no other path. The player characters somehow overcame this constraint. But Elisande’s motivations were clear from the start, so I don’t think she doesn’t deserve redemption in some way.

Maybe this Elisande later interfered with our fight against our true timeline Elisande, maybe to ensure that the events that led to her acquiring the discs happen?
During the legion fight she says:
“Time is… slipping away! How can it be so?
It’s… not possible! I… I was destined to win…”

Either way, an Elisande stronger than the one we faced is surely not a problem at all, right?

I suspect Elisande will be traveling towards our timeway for Midnight. She is now more powerful than when we fought her and reminds me of Loki from Marvel series.

Ensuring your own death is pretty hardcore, even if it is only a variant of you. It is totally in character for her to do something that harsh if she saw it as for the good of Suramar, though.

I would be against alt. Universe stuff.

But we had an entire alt. Universe expansion that lead to an alt universe playable race already…

Can we get an alternative alt draenor where Yrel isn’t lightbound?

Oh we are just getting started. Elisande is technically capable of bouncing through timelines and picking up anyone from anywhen she wants. Variant Kael’thas? Variant Azashara? All possible now.

What if gleaming Tyr’s mind is what enabled her to master Aman’thal’s eye?

Hmm. I’m willing to wait and see what they do with it.

I’d love to see some interaction between Elisande and Tyrande, but I won’t hold my breath.

That would actually make sense. I don’t think they’d introduce Elisande as a one-off character. I believe she will be back and after she traverses the timeways.

I also like how the quest is entirely: lets attack these dudes.

And the solution was just to ask her politely.

Among other things.
Giant elf thighs, time magic, big hat.
Checking a lot of boxes.

Definitely putting her in plot storage for midnight.

It’s questionable that we just stomp through and KILL a bunch of guards minding their own business in their own city, and then hop back to our timeline. We could have simply incapacitated the guards, but ok, let’s kill these people in the name of Tyr. :dracthyr_shrug:
