Just received a new MacBook Pro M4 installed with Mac OS 15 Sequoia. I’m trying to install Battle.net, but I can’t. The installer gives me this error (BLZBNTAGT00000840) and I end up with a file called Battle.net in the /Applications folder that has no icon and weights 0 Ko. Blizzard documentation is unhelpful.
Any ideas? Been running Battle.net and WoW on my previous MacBook Pro with no issues for the last 6 years.

Having this exact same issue on an M3 Max.
installer failed immediately after selecting install location.
Both battle.net and installer have full r+w access.
Just to confirm that you are both using the Mac versions of Battle.Net and WOW.
If you are using the Windows version, with say CodeWeavers Windows support, it might be the version of Wine you are using.
If you are using the Mac versions, then I don’t have an idea. Sorry.
I am using the Mac version of the installer. No worries!
Glad that is the case
The Linux version of WOW was broken by whatever Blizz did to update for Plunderstorm last night. The fix there is to change the version of Wine that is used to launch things.
I wonder what Blizz does on the backend of the Mac version of things… It would seem that the events are related. But, I don’t have a Mac to test with.
You might check the EU forums, as they will have had more hours to seek the source of the problem.
Having the same issue on my macbook. Unable to install battle.net. Same error.
Same here. Bought new M4 MacBook Pro today. Can’t install. Same error.

I was finally able to install Battle.net. Here’s what I did.
- Start fresh by deleting the Agent folder in /Users/Shared/Battle.net
- Add Battle.net Setup Installer to Full Disk Access
- Run Battle.net Setup Installer
- Once /Agent.app has been created in /Users/Shared/Battle.net (when asked for install path), add Agent.app to Full Disk Access
- Continue with installation, but it fails (with new error code)
From here, I started again but I made sure Agent.app was running before launching the Battle.net Setup Installer.
- Double-click Agent.app 81726 times until it finally shows up in Activity Monitor. It wouldn’t launch at first, but it eventually did.
- Launch Battle.net Setup Installer.
- Proceed as normal.
This worked for me! Installing WoW as I’m typing this.

Thank you so much. This worked for me too, after many failed attempts by not following your instructions exactly. I figured out what I was doing wrong, and now I’ve been able to download it. Blizzard needs to get this issue resolved quickly. This process was super convoluted…
Thanks this worked for me on my new MacBook Pro m4 pro. Downloading it know thanks to your post.
