Despite talking to the NPC to limit seeing my profession gear, it stays showing. I’ll try to see if combat will get rid of it.

Same for me, and im assuming a lot of people. The option to hide your profession equipment after you stop using the profession, is not working correctly. The npc options are bugged and not working as described/intended.
I do not like the skinning equipment, and I hate that it overrides my characters transmog. Id love an additional option to disable it all together, but Ill put that on the suggestion forums ;D
I can get it to work for one session but it’s a pain, unequip every profession item and set them to auto hide, log out and reequip all of them. It resets back to keep showing after a relog though.
This bug has been driving me absolutely nuts. I hate the look of the profession equipment

What I’ve seen is that changing the settings with the NPC only prevents the profession equipment buff from appearing for one session. It does not remove the buff if you’re already wearing/displaying the equipment (only a minor inconvenience since you can click the buff off manually), and it does not remember your choices after logout (very annoying since you have to keep setting it again).
