Can't hear others sound effects in dungeons/instances

It’s not just me either having this problem, you can search on reddit for it as well there are many people having the same problem… sooo it’s not just a “me” problem.

What I have done to try to fix it;
Uninstall all addons
Delete WTF
Delete Config
Delete Cache
Gone through every cvar command in the game
Uninstall the game → Reinstall the game
Uninstalled → Reinstalled audio drivers
Changed audio settings 1000 different configurations.
New speakers.
New audio connection, using Optical instead of 3.5mm aux jack.
Built an entirely new PC and still have these problems.

I’ve done just about anything and everything I can think of, there just are no sound effects for other players.

More specifically - this is only happening when in instanced content.
In the open world, and on dummies in Valdrakken for example, I can hear sound effects. However, as soon as I enter anything in an instance, it’s dead silence.

I have tested this on 2 different accounts, using 3 different computers, 1 of which is entirely newly built just a few weeks ago. Still have the same issues.

There are some sounds, but the volume is about 0.25% of what it should be.

Comparison, the sounds of my spells are loud enough to shake my desk and rattle the windows, and the sound effects of other players is like a mouse farting in a field 3 miles down the road. Can’t even hear them. Game unplayable.

We already tried helping you with this before.

Time for round 2.

Post is auto locked.

Can you hear your own sound effects? I noticed my sound effects had gotten unchecked in System > Audio settings within WoW.
Also, some toys block sound of others such as “Earpieces of Tranquil Focus”. I’ll make an assumption and guess you’ve already checked your buffs and made sure that wasn’t on still?

Yeah I can hear my own, and I can hear certain sound effects (not sure which all I can/can’t hear) from other players, such as when the elemental trinket procs, and hunters Explosive Shot being cast.

The volume is about 1/1000th what it should be though. If I make any sounds or if any NPC make noises it’s deafeningly loud and it takes all my sensory focus to barely make out another players sound.

I just asked someone to watch your video with me. Aside from the obnoxious toast dings from Bnet and your own effects volume for pally spells, we can definitely hear the druid swipe/thrash sounds and some other things. Yes, they are lower than your effects, but they are still there. However, the staff addressed why this volume disparity is happening in the last thread and there have been no changes since then.

They also mentioned where to post feedback if you’re unhappy with it, but you said you were quitting instead.

Yeah, and I did quit. Playing now for the next raid and then to decide what I wanna main in the next expansion.

“Providing feedback” does nothing. No one is going to give feedback on this because most people are clueless about it. I’ve left about 100 different feedback submissions on this. I could write a bot to submit 1 feedback per minute on this every day for the next 10 years and more and nothing would happen other than me probably getting banned.

I just want to hear. I can hear everything perfectly fine in classic, but Retail it’s damn near silent.
