I know years ago a lot of emotes were silenced in public chat for some strange reason, where only certain races and genders could be heard in the world unless players were in a party where they would hear all emotes. Now, I hear absolutely no emotes at all. What is the point of even having them now if you just… turned them off? That’s just stupid.

Sometimes you cant hear emotes around you, I think it has to do with how many players are in the area. I also dont think you can hear the opposite factions emote voices.
I was referring to other players, not myself. Most emotes cannot be heard outside of groups. Only a couple of specific races and genders can be heard with their laugh or cry emotes. The only ones I recall hearing after the emotes were muted a decade ago were the laugh emotes from male orcs, male dwarves, and female night elves, and the crying from female night elves I think.

I don’t know why they removed that from the game. Maybe it was because they got lots of complaints about what people were emoting? But I miss it. One of my favorite things to do was to tell jokes to my friend and she’d tell jokes to me in return. It really isn’t very fun when you can’t hear the jokes the other person is telling.
Would be nice if hearing other player emotes was just a toggle in the settings.
