Cant figure our Battle ground blitz EotS

I dont understand the base capture part. I see an Alliance flag on a base and I am Alliance. There is a gear wheel to click. so I click it, and the flag goes to Horde??? But it appears to be our base with a Horde flag. WTF is going on. Confusing as hell.

No one knows?

You can be horde in rated bg

Blitz is cross faction, like RBGs.

You’re an Alliance player, playing on the Horde side.

They definitely need to do a better job of telling you what side you are on. There is no clue in the UI if you are horde or alliance. Right now you have know the map and which side you started on.

It’s bad design and needs fixing IMO

Opening the scoreboard and finding your name will tell you which side you’re fighting for.

Very simple explanation in 3 steps. The first two are easy. The third requires some intuition but is not mandatory. And the third doesn’t always work if the enemy holds the flag without capping.

  1. Look at your map and check for the two bases that have squares on them.

  2. Do not run to those square bases because they are inactive and you can’t take an inactive base.

  3. When a flag is brought to an active base, all the bases switch. The inactive ones become active. So if you know a flag is about to be captured, you might want to run to an inactive SQUARE base in anticipation of it becoming active to take for your team. That is literally the only time to run to one of those square bases.

They need to put a giant arena type flag on your back, I am getting flashbacks to being 5 and kicking the soccer ball into the wrong goal

Where you spawn and also your name on the list.

Look at the map, some battlegrounds have icons for the faction bases.
Look at the score list, you will be listed as a Horde. It will even change your race on your scoreboard to a Horde race. For example I’ll be listed as a Troll Druid even though I’m still a Night Elf Druid.
Look around the starting area. If you see Horde designs and NPCs, you’re on the Horde team.

I’m hoping they add something to make it easier to tell at a glance, or if not that someone can make an addon or weakaura to do this.

You might be playing as Horde. Blitz puts 4-5 players of the opposite faction on your team. You could have been one of the players that swapped.

You shouldn’t need an addon for that. You just use your eyeballs.

Yes you’re right you shouldn’t need an addon for that, it should be part of the default UI.

It already is. It’s called open your eyes, lol.

Please tell me where in the default UI it says which team is which.
It shows the Alliance scores and bases, and the Horde score and bases.
If you open the scoreboard and find your name, you can tell from there which team you’re on, but it’s also kind of hard to see because your name is colored and it washes out the background.

So please again, tell me where, on the default UI, there is any indicator of which team you are on.

Of course for experienced players like you and I we have no trouble telling based on the starting location alone, but you and I could also play without the UI even showing (though maybe not well) so…

If you load in and Mage Tower is on your side of the chasm, you’re on Alliance.

If Blood Elf Tower is on your side of the chasm, you’re on Horde.

You don’t even have to look at the map. The bases are distinctive enough.

Thank you. I’ll try to remember the square base thing for next time.

I do wish it would show you the colors as you normally see them, like seeing Alliance colors on your end even if you’re on the ‘Horde’ side.

Or do it like in SS and have purple and yellow team with pennants on your back so you see what team you’re on and when you look at scores you aren’t as confused because being on the opposite ‘faction’ team can make you think you’re winning when you’re losing or vice versa.

Even in Epics, switching between Horde amd Alliance toons I get confused. Doesn’t help that my 2 main PvP toons right now are blood elf and void elf, but that’s on me.

When I started playing alliance I kept going to the wrong quest hubs not thinking, Forsaken really hate dwarfs. My friends were seriously upset when I made a human rogue, my one friend’s tween daughter jokingly called me traitor when I went by (she’d been playing with us in horde BGs since she was 7).
