Can't equip Knight's Colors anymore?

So back in the Burning Crusade (I can’t remember the specifics of it) there was something that happened that allowed Horde characters to buy the Knight’s Colors tabard from a vendor.

For over 10 years I have used that tabard on my hunter to go with the challenge mode set. It looked fantastic.

I unequipped the tabard to use another tabard to teleport to Orgrimmar which I’ve done a few times before. Apparently that was a huge mistake. I went to equip the Knight’s Colors and all of a sudden I get red text that says “You can never use that item.” What’s up with that?!?!

A quick google search shows this was hotfixed a year ago. Sorry for your loss I guess.

You’re mad that you got to use Alliance-specific gear as a Hordie? Come on.

This was fixed along with Alliance being able to use the Blood Knight Tabard too. Alliance players also wept the loss.

Sad, because the game should allow for traitors to exist and RP if they so chose.

I can understand Allies wanting to wear the Blood Knight tabard since it’s the only black and red one in the game and the symbol on it is pretty generic and not well known. But as Horde why would you want to wear a tabard with the Alliance symbol on it?

lol dumbest thing I read all day.

In fairness, I only recognize the symbol (after googling the tabard) because it’s also on a silver/blue shield I used at one point for transmog. And that shield has 3 different versions with that coloring, only one of which bothers to mention Silvermoon/Blood Elves/Whatever in the name.

One of them is literally called “Shield of the Lion-Hearted”, which does not exactly scream “Horde” or “Elf”. Lions are pretty solidly an Alliance/Human motif.

That is for Alliance only. You have never been able to use that tor Horde.

No. Didnt happen. You are mistaken.

Oh yeah you have. I’ve had it equipped for years

you know bugs happen… right?
and contrary to popular belief, these bugs do get fixed eventually.

It did happen, you are mistaken.

if you have any doubts about this being a thing, you could head over to the wowhead page and check the comments, where it’s been well documented (along with the Blood Knight tabard which people are talking about)

Oof.

I still have the Blood Knight tabard in my Draenei’s bank.

Though I kinda wish they would make that tabard Blood Elf specific… instead of “Horde Paladin”. Makes 0 sense that I can mog it on my Zandalari.

Theres also the Sunreaver Onslaught and Dragonmaw Clan tabards, but it is pretty annoying theres no black and red tabards for the Alliance.

Luckily I run my own guild just for my characters so I can make whatever tabard I need, but still annoying.

How in the Hell is the symbol not well known? You do know that belves make up majority of the horde right? You and everybody else knows what that symbol is. It basically is the horde

To start, Belves are the most popular race, they are not the majority. Second, how many belfs you see wearing their racial tabard? Outside of Silvermoon, one of the more dead cities in the game, how often do you see that symbol anywhere in the game? On top of all that the version of it on the Blood Knight tabard is even more abstract than normal, and not the standard colors.

Sorry but your phoenix rising isn’t as iconic and instantly recognizable as you want to think. A person playing this game can play all the way to 120 and never realize what it is.
