I have a 2080ti, dx 12 enabled and windows 10 pc completely up to date yet I cannot enable raytracing in the menu. What can be done to get it working?
Are you sure you have the v2004 update for windows 10 and restarted your PC?
I wouldn’t be in too much of a hurry to enable RT shadows. Not much to see and a lot of fps loss.
I have the same issue except with a GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6GB GDRR6. The red text says that it is disabled due to a graphics related issue.
I have:
- Updated Graphics Drivers
- Updated Windows 10 PC 64 bit
- Ensured I have DirectX 12
- Unplugged my neighbor’s internet (not related but funny none the less)
Because it’s been suggested that it is because I don’t have an RTX card…
No it’s not RTX but RTX hasn’t been a requirement for raytracing since April 2019. Now the 16 series, Titan Xp, Titan X, and most of the 10 series are also enabled. It may or may not handle max RT setting well but I should at least be able to do low RT.
The fps hit would honestly make it even less worth it than it is when using an RTX card.
For reference, at 4k and using an RTX 3090, the average fps is 60 fps. When I was using a 2080ti it was roughly 40fps. So with a 1660 super you’re looking at probably 20-30fps if you’re lucky.
Understandable, but 30 is playable for me. I also only run at 1080 and haven’t done anything super competitive since cata struck (and would turn most graphics way down when I did). I just wanted to try it. If nothing else, for the screen shots lol
I got a 3090 was excited to try out ray traced stuff, disabled :<
Ok, so basically it sounds like its not actually enabled in the game yet or there is just a bug left to work out. That makes me feel better because it isn’t just me(that is usually the case lol) and will be fixed. Thanks all.
I got it working with a windows update but the drop in frames is not worth the better lighting imo.
I’ve updated my windows and gfx drivers and still can’t get it to work either. I want to see my frames drop too I’ve got an rtx2060
One thing to try is going too https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and making sure that windows is really up to date. My PC was showing as “up-to-date” but the windows update in the settings menu wouldn’t locate the most recent update. Once windows is up to date, ensure your 2070 driver is up to date through geforce experience or from https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/ .
