Through this expansion, I’ve been constantly bouncing back and forth between my Mage and Druid, unable to decide 100% to stick with one.
Due to recent events, it’d make a lot more sense to me to finally just stick to one instead of playing both nearly equally.
They’re both fully raid geared (217 and 219) with AOTC, so gearing effort is out of the picture as a deciding factor.
When it comes to my playstyle, I prefer to mainly DPS. I’ve not done any other roll since Cataclysm. Really, the only reason I have trouble deciding to stay with my Mage is survivability/self-healing. They’re the squishiest class in the game, which I have a hard time with. However, from a group/raid perspective, I really enjoy Mage, and feel secure knowing that at least one of the specs will be good at any time.
The Druid I, again, play purely as DPS. I tend to swap between Feral and Balance depending on how I’m feeling, and have gear for both specs. I enjoy the class both when soloing and in a group environment. My main issue is that Druids tend to have a harder time getting group invites, and are less likely to be a strong dps all the time compared to Mage.
TL;DR: Recent events have made it more logical for me to focus on one character instead of both my Mage and Druid. Having hard time deciding which one to stick with. Mainly DPS.
I am looking to DPS 99% of the time. Sometimes I branch out just to change it up, but DPS is what I most prefer. As said in my main post, the only reason I have a hard time sticking with Mage is just how weak they are in the open world. I solo a lot (gathering, world PvP, old content for transmog, ect ect) and Mages are the single worst class at this.
In a group environment, I love my Mage. I just like to be strong while solo as well.
Balance is is getting nerfed hard because its utility made it almost mandatory for key groups. Rather than nerfing the utility, they’re going after its damage, so it’ll be left behind in a big way when the dust settles.
Fire is also getting hit, but it can switch to frost or arcane in a pinch. By contrast, feral makes about as much sense these days as survival.
So yeah, if you’re dps 99% of the time, stay mage. Once you’re geared you can solo pretty much any solo content regardless of spec.
Feel like I’m going with Druid. I like both Balance and Feral, and would like the option of tanking in the future.
Just can’t find myself sticking with mage long-term because of how much solo content I do.
