I currently have both classes nearly 210 ilvl, and still can’t decide between the two.
The specs I tend to play are Feral/Guardian on the Druid, and Ret/Prot on the Paladin.
I like the burst and ease of rotation on the Paladin, while I enjoy the mobility and stealth on the Druid. One of the things I hate the most on the Paladin is the lack of mobility. I also enjoy the sheer ease of life abilities from the Druid, such as Travel Form and, again, stealth, when out in the open world.
Just looking for some opinions from others, as for whatever reason I just can’t decide between the two for a main, hence why both are so geared up already.

2 Hybrids.
That’s tough.
Going to have to come down to what you enjoy most. What toon do you hop on first?

Hmm. I can only give you my preferences, rather than actual advive.
For tanking, Paladin is much more enjoyable. Prot is much more flashy and fun. Bear is just kind of boring.
For healing, Restro Druid is just beautiful. So much fun. But I’ve never done Paladin healing, so I dunno. Seems odd though, just conceptually.
For DPS, they both kind of suck. (Just my personal opinion, not a big fan of any of the dps specs involved in this equation.) Probably Ret is the most fun, I guess? But I get bored of it quickly.
if you’re a “main” type of person (hard to relate) then I guess first ask yourself what is the main role you want to play on your main character? Then pick the best class for that role. Secondary is secondary.

I personally think you should go Druid. Although it does have a higher skill cap (for DPS and heal), when you end up mastering the other specs, it ends up bringing a mountain of value as a spec.
I’m Guardian/Balance/Resto and it is insane just how much coverage I can give while enjoying the benefits of being ranged DPS and support which in an expansion like SL is a huge boon.
If you don’t see yourself mastering more of your classes’s specs and mostly are sticking to lower key content, I’d say stick with Paladin. As you say it is easy to play, can provide a lot of interrupts as a tank which tend to be a weak point of lower key pugs and is naturally tanky on both specs.

between all that, paladin by a long shot.
If you were running Resto and Balance, Id say druid.

Druid can be 4 specs. Pally can be 3. Do the Druid
Um what? You play a Pally but you don’t heal on one?
Wow that’s just crazy talk.
They are still very good, top 3 for sure
OP plays a Druid and doesn’t heal also.
Some things just don’t make sense.
12 classes, that’s like 36 specs in the game. I’ve played a lot but I haven’t tried every single one!
Besides, Paladin as a healer is weird to me. Like you’re wearing plate. You’re a tank. Doing heals would be weird, or vaguely cheating since you’re not even super squishy, hah.
Besides, the whole Holy thing is so boring. Yeah, you’re a virtuous paragon of light. OK. BARF. It’s the most vanilla thing you could think of. I won’t even play Holy on Priest for the same reason. I just can’t even.
Sounds like we all just have our own ridiculous quirks and preferences.

Obviously I’m gonna vote druid .
But tbf I play resto or boomie so ymmv. As someone else asked, which do you generally look for first when you sign on? That’d be my honest vote.
My two cents since I have a Feral Druid and Ret Paladin. Loved leveling my druid way back in Wrath. She worked well in Legion/Argus, but otherwise I find her mind numbingly boring to play. So far, I’ve enjoyed that Paladin more than I expected.
OTOH, if you want healing melee, I highly recommend Enh Shaman. (Okay, they sucked in BfA, but are back now!)

omg YES this is the answer, the answer is always Shaman
Druids are a ton of fun in the open world, paladins usually have one crazy OP spec each expansion.
I loved Boomkin though so always went Druid. Most fun ranged class in game.
go with paladin.
you are more likely to get chili fries than a druid would
Another point; if you’re into mogging, go paladin. My druid spends so much time in cat or travel form that if it wasn’t for the login screen, I wouldn’t remember what she looks like.
Druids are more flexible and have more side bonuses (travel form, picking flowers on the wing, etc) but Paladins are a bit more powerful.
And yeah, you don’t really bother as much with transmog on a Druid; they’re rarely in a humanoid form to see the nifty gear with. Even if like most girl druids your boomkin is a sparkly star girl, its monochrome so you’re going more for silhouette than design.
100% Paladin all the way.
Plate transmog is best transmog.
I play both. Druid in PvE, pally in PvP. I much prefer the Druid in PvE. Feels good. Feral and gaurdian are fun, but hard to find groups for. Paladin is lol if you’re not holy in PvE.
I play Ret Pally. Tried a Druid. Nah. I’ll stick with my Paladin. Great all around Toon to play.
Druid is literally always safe. They will always have a spec that is at least half decent
