Cant choose a main?

Hey peoples,

As the title says, I cannot for the life of me choose a main. Ive been playing this game since '04 and you would think I would know what to play.

But I can’t choose. I made this warrior at first, but its, horrible leveling solo. I re-rolled druid, and I felt so subpar healing (would rather be a shaman but friends are alliance… shrug ) So after that I made a Rogue, and although I do enjoy it, I worry about end game and getting spots in dungeons.

How did you go about choosing a class? I am starting to fall behind my friends in levels because of my indecisive mind.

Play a Warlock! Already saw a thread complaining about Fear :joy:

You don’t choose a main, silly. Main chooses you.

Keep trying them until you find the one that sticks.

Only one class gets free food. You know you wanna eat!

what do you wanna do during endgame? Reverse engineer the role you want to fill.

I knew I wanted to play a Warrior going in (and had leveled them to 60/70 on private servers 3 different times)

Since it has been so long for you, you might want to alt hop around and play a bit of everything till something sticks. It might feel like youre falling super behind, but Classic is slow and you’ll be fine in the long run. Remember how little loot the raids drop for 40 people? You’ll be okay.

Itll be worth the extra effort when you actually enjoy the class you picked at 60

Tl;dr its all subjective and you should try it all out to see what sticks. Youll regret it more if you slog to 60 on a class you hate than take a week or two leveling each one to ~20ish to find something that sticks

You don’t need to choose a main necessarily. Classic wow is here to stay. I’m leveling multiple characters and enjoying that also.

This is the real answer, and it hurts. I’m in the same boat.

Shaman is the obvious and best choice.

haha, this is also exactly me. Except I rolled Druid knowing full well how terribad it would be, especially since I have rejected all feral forms and insist leveling only as resto. I’m taking a kind of masochistic pleasure in it.

Honestly, no idea. I was a hunter through vanilla for raiding so not that. I know its going to be a toss up on Warrior, Rogue, Druid, Mage for classes id like to play if alliance, and if horde, 100% shaman haha. But I am currently stuck Alliance so I am kind of stuck.

If you play as a rogue… trust me, you will always have a spot in any group.

I would pick Druid if I were in your shoes and here is why…

In my experience playing druid so far I have tanked, healed and DPS’d dungeons just fine. I do run details for damage meters and I have kept up with the other dps classes in my party.

Druid has become more and more fun as I’ve leveled up. Definitely recommended. I understand at 60 in raids they’re MOSTLY cornered into resto but a few get to tank or be feral dps if you find the right guild and put in the extra effort.

Overall, out of the classes that you have listed interested in. Druid is the one that will meet MOST, not all, of your wants/needs.

I hope this helps, have a good day!

Warlock as my primary, but I’m feeling the pull of Paladin more and more…both are classes I never played much (Paladin ever) on modern. Trying to branch out from my experience as R/S/M/Wr!

I rolled warlock then realized I really only wanted to play lock for pvp which isnt til phase 2. So then I rerolled warrior to tank pve for phase 1.

Figure out what you want to do AND what fantasy you want to play out.

Want to be an edgy loner who also great at solo questing? - Hunter.

Want to represent all that is good and play an always needed important role in groups? - Priest

Want to be a shady outlaw and choose your fights, control your prey? - Rogue

I play warlock because warlock is my favorite class fantasy since the original beta testing. I love dots, pets, crowd control, these sort of things in every game.
Also I’m an as*hole, so it pairs well with my personality.

You can find a raid spot with any class if you put in the effort. Pick what speaks to you.

I’ve been going between this priest and a shaman trying to make up my mind!

I picked a warlock because I love warlocks. I have a tank pet, I can summon people, I can chain pull for extended periods of time, I kill people in the open world (the voidwalker sacrifice shield is amazing), and I do good dungeon dps. Whats not to love?

I agree with the reverse engineering advice. Dont just consider the role you want to play; consider also the utility each class brings and what additional responsibilities a raid would ask of you. Start crossing off additional duties you dislike and see which class is left.

I picked priest because my primary goal here is to get Anathema. I played resto druid and hunter in classic, and never took the time or got the chance to go for anything really cool - I just didn’t do anything endgame at all back then. And I like the way it looks. :stuck_out_tongue:

In general though, I just go with whatever’s most fun and what lines up with what I’ve enjoyed before. Somethings I just try different things til something sticks. Also depends what kinda content you want to play and what you think you’d enjoy playing there.

Also good advice here
