On Alliance side, create a level 1 human and start in Northshire, run directly to Audrey Burnhep in Stromwind city. Get her quest to battle Julia, The Pet Trainer. Log back into your main char and battle Julia in Elwynn Forest. She will then give you a quest for the next trainer to battle. Silly but worked for me.

UPDATE: Make sure you LEAVE your level 1 right where you first received this quest. After the quest-line is done on your main, you will need to log back into the level 1 and talk to Audrey again to start the next generation of quests… for higher level tamers.

You are my hero. Thanks so much.

Thank you so much. I left wow after WoTK and returned for Shadowlands and wanted to try out this pet battle feature they added but got stuck. I spent a week trying to figure out what I did wrong - this solution worked like a charm! The only difference is that I flew to Orgrimmar once I got to the first flight point.

Thank you! Worked for me.

for anyone else that sees this thread, make sure you acquire your Heart of Azeroth. Blizzards spaghetti code borked the timeline for things like this. That was the fix for me, i had to go get the heart, then the next series of quests came up at Varzok for me.

I started doing pet battles on one of my accounts and I made a new one recently and I cant go any farther with the trainers I apparently only got to the 3rd one in Kalimdor and when I get to the trainer they wont allow me to battle the and the most recent character I made is alliance and I cant even start pet battles with trainers an I have no quests on any of my accounts currently for the pet battling so I am vary confused on why I cant battle pet trainers not if you guys have any advice I am all ears

Ya but reading the forums for a workaround is not a fix. Fix it. Is this not our expectation?

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to add to it… I created a refer-a-friend account… Leveled a character to 60 and then decided to do some pet battling on it. I did the first 6 quests in eastern kingdoms completed the quest with Aubry, but couldn’t get the quest to get the achievement for the Eastern Kingdoms…

What I ended up having to do is create a Horde character, fly it around with my main account on a two seater and battle the Kalimdor pet tamers. He was then presented with the quest for Battle Pet Tamers: Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor as well as What we have been training for on the Horde Character… Before I accepted I did check on my Alliance character and Aubry was not offering any of these quests.

These have been broken for a very long time from the age of this thread and really need to be fixed.

Just to re-bump this 3.5 year old thread, I just spent WAY more time than it was worth trying to figure this out. i had not played WoW since WotLK, and leveled up a couple of characters to max, then started doing this quest line.

My issue with the “Battle Pet Tamers: Kalimdor” and “Battle Pet Tamers: Eastern Kingdoms” was exactly the same as OP stated with Varzok not offering these after completing the first quest with the inital 5/6 tamer.

After beating the last tamer you’re sent back to Varzok to turn in the quest. This gets turned in, but nothing is offered. I logged off / on, swapped to my other character and no luck.

On an old server I had a level 6 in Org, went to Varzok and he had the quests. Accepted these, then logged back on with my main and the quests were there.

Seems like 4 year old bug to me.

okay so i would like to add to this old post just in case and state i could only get quests to start more battle pet stuff on HORDE. Alliance would not let me at all so…try the opposite faction too

TL/DR
Stand next to Northrend pet tamer that you cannot battle.
Log out
Log on low level alt, go to Stormwind and talk to Audrey Burnhep in the north side. Accept the quest for Northrend pet taming.
Switch back to original character and you can now pet battle the guy you couldn’t before.

Someone above suggested I look in my Quests Log and sure enough, there were some random Pet Quests in there, which I didn’t think were relevant. I went ahead and did them. And now I’m back in front of Audrey and she now has Battle Pet Tamers: Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms available. I feel like I’m finally getting somewhere. I’m assuming when I finish these, I’ll get ones for Northrend and Pandaria. Crossing my fingers.

I just found the next battle in my quest log as well. It’d be nice if we had to accept them, lol.

I know this is an old forum, but the above work around worked for me. started pet battling with a higher lvl character. I created a new Vulpera. I accepted a couple quest on my way to Varzok (didn’t do anything with them just accepted them) and he didnt offer me the quest. went back and created a troll and went directly to orgrimmar via the closest flight path. Varzok was there with the two pet tamer quest. logged out and checked both of my high lvl horde and alliance ladies and the quest are available. I’m not sure if accepting a quest or the character not being a lvl 1 was the issue with the vulpera, so be sure the new character is lvl 1 and go straight to varzok. DO NOT ACCEPT ANY QUEST!!! Don’t pass go and dont collect 200 dollars!!!

i encountered this bug today and this fix is the only thing that worked after trying many things
and yes it needs to be a lvl1 character with no quests
dear lord blizzard this bug is 5 years old and still not fixed
get it together this is just embarrassing at this point

Gnome here and I had shore crawlers among my pets. Caging them and then accepting the training worked.

I tried the fix
Make a lvl 1 character, pick up no quests, go to orgrimar—suddenly the quests are there. This bug is alive and well in 2024.

If someone comes here looking for answers…
I did the first 6 pet tamers waaayyyy long time ago, (12-13 years now… ish) and I came back to it because WOW end game kinda burned me out.
First, I didn’t know where I left off (Alliance)

It didn’t help because I wasn’t sure if I left off on a trainer or what. Then someone on another site (not naming that site because I’m about to tell you anyways and why should you leave us.forums.Blizzard.com, when I’m just going to tell you anyways… ish) mentioned looking up the WOW Achievement in game, “Taming Eastern Kingdoms” Which will tell you all the trainers you completed. The Achievement said I completed upto “Bill Buckler”. So, I went off on my main to go find him. No quest. Nothing. Just “I’m just here for research purposes” or whatever.

Ok. So, I keep reading through the threads on different sites. It says, after Bill, you go back to Audrey Burnhep in Stormwind and turn in the quest “A tamers homecoming”. So I hopped on my dragon and flew back to Stormwind, on my main that I made like 3 years ago.

AUDREY BURNHEP had NO Quest either! This is getting frustrating. Maybe I did turn it in and took a happy little jaunt to the Hinterlands and went out to see Krosse. He didn’t have a quest either, Nothing. That guy “I’m just here for research purposes” too. Riight… an undead, with undead animals, in a forest full of trolls, likely story, but no quest.

So, new tack. I searched through every Alliance Character to see if I had a quest for Battle Pets. That took a minute. I did not.

Finally my last ditch effort was to take every Alliance character I have to Stormwind and see if Audrey Burnhep has a quest. I started with the Oldest Character I had. The one I thought I may have done all the Battle Pet Quests on, and sure enough, Audrey had all three quests.

!Battle Pet Tamers: Kalimdor
!Battle Pet Tamers: Eastern Kingdoms
!What we’ve been training for.

It’s important to note if you stopped at any other point in the Achievement you should probably take the character that you most likely did the Battle Pet quests on and check to see if the quest is with the Trainer. I hope this helps someone 9 years from now when We’re all on VR with haptic suits. good luck.

P.S.S. There is another option. >> Make a low level character and level up as normal with the quests from the beginning. It might work, but you run the risk of being stuck with leveling a character and then it becomes awkward when all of your other characters get together at the Pub when you’re offline and they start teasing them and calling them names like, “Battle Pet Baby”. Be good to the characters you create, give them purpose, like Jewelcrafting.
