Canonically, was the Horde player at the burning of Teldrassil?

Pretty much in title. Were we there or did we hear about it later?

Edit: LOL I should have made this clearer. Yeah, I know we were in Darkshore, I played the pre-expansion stuff, but, like, when Sylvanas decided to go all war crimesy (I mean more than invading Darkshore unprovoked) were we right there next to Saurfang letting it happen or were we farther back? I get the impression that canonically we were right there and did nothing, which sucks.

Also, a lot of the stuff we do in the game canonically happened a different way. So, even if it’s shown we were there, were we?

Hopefully that’s up to the player to decide.

If we go by what was in game, the player certainly was at Teldrassil.

And for the players that never completed the Burning of Teldrassil scenario…?

Your character doesn’t exists so no

But if they were yes

Blame blizzard writing team for the horde committing genocide :+1: such a great idea! (not)

I’m betting it’ll be the same as the players that never kill N’Zoth or anything else that has an effect on the game world: you can RP that you didn’t do it but that doesn’t change what the official lore is.

Given that it’s always a nebulous “adventurers” or just giving the kills to someone else (e.g. Varian canonically killing Onyxia) I’d say no canonically since canonically we aren’t as almighty as we are in game.

E.g. I doubt canonically there will be a “Champion of Azeroth” it’ll be something else to explain it. Kind of like how the end of Legion there are canonical NPCs who have the artifacts, not us.

Depends on whether you played the BFA prepatch War of Thorns quest line to the end. If you did, yes; if not, no.

They were there in spirit.

Best bet is to RP how you feel your character would have acted given the situation. Since we don’t really exist within lore, it’s easy to say you didn’t take part. It was honestly some really bad writing in game that made way too many people look stupid on both sides.

I mean, I was on the beach 2 years ago when this went down.

Probably, but unless you were a fire mage or ele shaman you probably weren’t doing a whole lot but staring at the burning tree with shocked disbelief or joy.

Hopefully it’ll be akin to the Death Knight mount questline where Alliance DKs can get a quest in Drustvar where you interact with a red drake. Their actions during the questline are reflected in the quest text/audio from the NPC.

Yes you the player was there. Problem is they can’t write a book and say Sormorne helped burn the tree, so they default too a band of adventurers. Some event tho are specifically told Alliance did this or Horde did that. For instance Chronicles 3 showed Horde forces Did bastion of Twilight and Alliance Did the first defeat of Naxxramas with the Argent Dawn.

Well…
I like to think it was just like Skyrim in the Battle for Whiterun.
If you did not show up things dont change and just a few ppl is upset at you for not showing up but will forget about it pretty soon.
Damn… I like Balgruff, could not betray him like that.

“Well done. You sought me out, on your own initiative. You’ve done Whiterun a service, and I won’t forget it. Here, take this as a small token of my esteem.”

I can however confirm that It became a bit of a meme in my guild to start a campfire over dead night elf players.

If I’m remembering the quests right, we took part in the War of Thorns leading up to it, bore witness to the burning, but weren’t in a position to either pull the trigger or stop Sylvanas from barking the order. The player was left to interpret whether they shared Saurfang’s disgust at the sudden change of plans, or cheered for Sylvanas.

I wonder if any of Tyrande’s dialogue in SL will adjust for characters who completed the WoT quests. Might be a little awkward for those who race-changed to an Allied Race though.

I’d leave that up to the player tbh. The only canon thing really is “at least one hero is the champion of azeroth”
