Huh. I just purchased the item I had frozen from last month (Garrlok) and noticed that he was still frozen so I dragged the Trusty Treasure Trove down to freeze it.
Switched to an alt on a different server to check and see if that worked and it did. The Trusty Treasure Trove is the currently frozen item.
I wish that worked for me. I tried doing that and then checking on many different alts on many different servers…no luck, Garrlok is still there sitting in the frozen section of the trading post next to the frozen pizza(as well as in my pet collection).
I was able to log out, disable all addons and was able to drag an item down to replace the previously frozen one when I logged back in.
Just tested again with all my addons re-enabled, and was able to drag something down to replace the frozen item. Seems like the ability to drag something down to the frozen spot is hit or miss.
dragging item down also worked for me. I would’nt have know that without reading here. now can freeze pet to buy mount this month.
The issue has never been dragging the item.
I’ve always been able to drag the item.
I’ve even been able to make it show the new item as frozen.
However, when you leave and come back, the new item isn’t frozen.
I dont want replace the frozen item. I just want to unfreeze it. I can not unfreeze that item.

The issue has never been dragging the item.
Some clarity missing from the above answers…when you drag it, you need to drag/drop it to the bottom of the Trading Post screen where it says Freezing. Not the frozen item in the item list. Blizzard might just want to work on the UI a bit here to make it more intuitive.
Blizzard support says you cannot unfreeze an item, you can only replace it with another item. Drag another item onto the freeze box.

I am having the same problem…
I placed the mini pet in the frozen slot of the trading post thinking I wasn’t going to have enough to get it but I did. I got the mini pet. however I did not remove it or replace it when I purchased the pet and now it appears to be STUCK in the frozen slot for the post. I tried to do the trouble shooting suggestions for it. I tried to replace it and no timer for the switch to the other item for freezing appears. It doesn’t allow me to click off anything. I tried to leave the window screen thinking it might save. It didn’t. Is there a way to remove that already purchased item from the frozen slot please?
yep I had the same problem. couldn’t unfreeze something unless I dropped an item in there… Blizzard that isn’t a solution to the problem!!! that’s just kicking the problem a bit further down the road! how about you fix the bloody thing!

how is it a “problem” if the frozen item just sits there after being purchased?
