Hi.
I cannot rename my pet. The prompt box accepts the input, but no change occurs.
I’ve no add-ons installed, and I tried dismissing and re-summoning.
I don’t want to re-tame the rare animal that I have; I don’t see that as an acceptable solution.
I see a handful of hunters are also having this problem, but no fix yet. Please help Cat, Wolf, Boar, Bear, etc find their true selves.

I have the same problem. Have tamed multiple pets and cannot name any of them. I watched someone tame Bjork before me and it kept the rare spawn name. Mine just says “bear”
I’m having the same issue. I have tried dismissing, summoning, logging in, exiting completely, even waited a day. Still can’t rename my pet. Dialog box comes up, acts like it accepts it but then nothing changes.
I rolled my first hunter ever. When I got my pet at level 10 it specifically said that you can name it only once. Maybe renaming was a feature introduced later and thus not available in Classic?

I’m having the same issue, and it’s not a rename. It’s happened when I tried the name the pet the first time, and every time since.

I’m having the same problem. I see people with named pets so it’s not a universal issue.
Pet I tamed was a corrupted mottled boar in Durotar if it matters.
Interesting, Renata. I had the issue with a Battleboar from Mulgore.
But when I tamed The Rake in Mulgore, I was able to name him.
Has anyone found a fix?? I’ve tamed 2 different pets, same thing. Try to rename and it does nothing.
I finally posted a ticket. Supposed to hear back within 24 hours.
How did you manage to open a ticket? I’ve tried every dropdown menu in the help section. None of them let me open a ticket.
Have you guys tried using just a regular name on another pet? To see if randomly the name you are attempting just isn’t allowed?
Drjekyll: that was exactly my issue. It turns out that BOTH Napoleon and Snowball were not allowed names for my pet!! No idea why, but that’s the case. Thank goodness for accent characters.
It would be nice if the interface posted message to explain WHY the name didn’t change.
Can confirm. Used special accent characters and it worked.
Yep… same here, putting the title “Mr” was why mine didn’t work as well. Glad you guys got it!
Chances are that if you cant rename your pet you’re trying to name it something that WoW name filters wont accept. I tried to rename my purple raptor Toronto, that didnt work but I then tried Barnie and that worked.

I’m sure you have, but just in case, have you tried disabling addons?
Try a different name. The name you chose might not be allowed.
For me it was the name. I was trying to name my bear “Uther” and it did not stick. Tried a different name and it worked. Would be helpful if the filter would simply say name not allowed - try something else.
