Is anyone else having issues tonight? Earlier I had a lot of lag and disconnects now I can’t even log in.
If it makes it past the Retrieving Realm List part it gets stuck on Retrieving Character List. Screen goes black and the spinning wheel of death stats up. It brought my camp up once after a couple minutes but when I tried to login on a toon I got disconnected.

Are you connecting through an area affected by winter storms?
I have had this issue and others since the patch. This morning was okay, I could log on and actually play. Now, if I get past Retrieving Character List, it hangs up on the loading screen. I read some people saying it took like 10-15 minutes so I tried waiting but nothing changed. I also can’t uninstall Mists Classic, the removal just doesn’t move or change at all. Tried it several times and nothing changes.
Where are you connecting from?
From a mobile hotspot, WA state. It’s the only Internet option I have currently.
Unfortunately, those connections don’t meet the minimum requirements for Blizzard’s online PC game titles. They’re really susceptible to weather issues, network congestion, and throttling of game services since that’s not their primary purpose.
One thing I forgot to ask is whether either of you changed your DNS since this problem started. Regardless of whether you’re running on an unsupported connection, a new DNS (like 1.1.1.1) might fix a routing problem.
Switching the DNS seems to be working a little, the connection seems a bit more stable but I was able to log on for an hour or so already.
Been using mobile hotspot for almost 8 years now, it’s not perfect but it works.
im having the same issue i go to log in and it says unable to reconnect my internet is running smoothly just wont log in

Yeah I’m from TN and we have gotten some snow. My issue got better actually a couple hours after I posted this.
But all the last week or so I’ve been having issues with discomnections and high latency.
Its was just worse tonight.
I have fibernet and I usually don’t have any issues at all with high latency.
Tried this morning in Tampa FL so winter storms aren’t an issue as it’s currently 56*. Internet is working fine. Hit PLAY on log in and just keep getting “An Unexpected Error” box that asks what I was doing when the error occurred.
That sounds like a crash, not a disconnect, different than what is being discussed.
It’s doing it again tonight. It’s not my internet, Everything else works fine; good latency on everything except for WoW.
It kicked me off and now if it lets me back in then I can’t do anything. Immediately lags so bad I can’t even port home.
I played most of the afternoon with no issues; it just feels like Blizz is having issues on their end that’s making things bog down when traffic is high.

Now I’m getting near constant transfer aborted: instance not found issues when I’m just flying around place to place. I was playing just fine for a bit and now I can’t move much before the game stalls, snaps me back, tells me transfer aborted and I hard close the game. One toon was told transfer aborted every time, another just gets loading bars that don’t move before dcing. And I have latency in the 1000s that flip flops whether I’m in game or restart it.
Well, the world is bigger than your house and state of residence. The routes outside the state reaching to Chicago are likely experiencing inclement weather conditions. You can ask the ISP to run tests to services in Chicago. They have generic places they can ping for testing. However, Blizzard doesn’t offer personalized troubleshooting for connection problems anymore, probably because they make games and not the internet.
Yeah, that has nothing to do with server connection, that’s a local crash error. Does the system meet the new requirements that came with the prepatch?
Happening to me right now! All was fine for the last few hours, took a boat to Northrend, game crashed. Stuck on Retrieving Realm List. Then get in, all the realms available but none of my characters show (shows as no chars at all), then get to Retrieving Character List, now stuck. Cool!

Please wake up EU support, all EU realms just went down, including realm status and EU forums login (EU forums themselves are up, but I cannot log in or post there anymore).

I got booted out just a minute ago and it wouldn’t connect to the realm for about 4 tries. Seems to be working now though
3rd time I was booted out of game today.
