I cannot link items in any chat on one character. The problem only occurs on that character and on multiple computers. Deleting the cache, wtf, and interface folders did not solve the issue. Running a scan and repair and reinstalling Wrath Classic also did not fix it. The chat window does not have the setting to make it noninteractive turned on and running the command /resetchat does not work.
My husband is having the same problem on one of his characters and has had a ticket in for nearly a week and the ETA is still another two weeks out.
I’m not sure if it’s coincidental or not, but before I saw this problem on that character, I’d had a different problem in which all my keybinds got reset a couple of times and had reset my UI in hopes it won’t happen again.
Edit: I also cannot split stacks of items anymore, either.
This might be due to a stuck Cvar command or server-side setting I recommend given this only impacts one character and the other steps haven’t helped to try the following workaround:
Log into the broken character and type each of these commands into chat, then log out safely - if you DC or the client crashes, repeat this step. /console synchronizeConfig 0
/console synchronizeSettings 0
Navigate to the folder for the character who is not having problems: \World of Warcraft\Classic\WTF\Account\YOURACCOUNTNAME\SERVERNAME\CHARACTERNAME
Right click>copy the "config-cache.wtf " file
Navigate to the folder for the character who is having problems
Delete this character’s "config-cache.wtf " file
Right click>paste the new file
Log into the broken character and type each of these commands into chat, then log out safely - if you DC or the client crashes, repeat this step: /console synchronizeConfig 1
/console synchronizeSettings 1
As it turned out, a guildie recommended resetting my keybinds to default, which solved the problem. I didn’t even have character specific keybinds set up and have no idea how that happened.
