I am at skinning level 300, when I try to skin anything in outland it says I need skinning 305, but when I go to moorutu in Thrallmar, I click “train me” and there is nothing for me, I am unable to train my skinning further. Have tried log out/in multiple times. No one else in my guild or in the area seems to be having this issue, just me.
Only thing I can suggest is to try getting trained by Seymour in Shatrath, but I suspect you are right to report it as a bug.
You need to find animals that are level 60 or lower to skin. A level 60 boar will require 300 skinning, a 59 boar would be 295, 58 is 290, etc. So once you have skinned enough Level 58/59/60 boars, you’ll reach 305, then you can skin the level 61 creatures.
Alternatively you can get +5 skinning on your gloves to help.

You need 305 to skin a level 61 Deranged Helboar in the open plains. Try looking for a level 60 Deranged Helboar, or travel north of Thrallmar near Felspark Ravine and look for the red level 58-59 Starving Helboars. You can also go to Silithus, Eastern Plaguelands, or Winterspring to skin level 55-60 beasts until you have 305+ skinning. Based on what I know of the economy, I predict the value of Rugged Leather to go up a lot in the next several months and eventually become significantly more valuable on the AH than Knothide Leather.
Maybe dumb question, but did you see skinning trainer to be able to skin up to 375? Also you don’t get points every skin seem like another rng item.

OP is trained to Master Skinning. Most likely the issue is the level of the target.
Assuming that you’ve already learned Master Skinning (i.e. your skill cap displays 300/375) then the likely issue is just poor RNG.
Even attempting to skin mobs that are orange have a really small chance of actually skilling you up. Same as training from 250-300. It just takes awhile. It took me around 30 Hellboars to get from 300 to 305.

I did. What OP described only makes any sense as either what I explained, or as a bug.

The OP is/was at level 300 skinning. When he tries to skin a level 61 animal, the game tells him, “you need skinning 305”. This is working as designed as has nothing to do with RNG. As a level 304 skinner (including any enchants), you can’t skin level 61 animals.

OP himself said that the skinning trainer in Thrallmar didn’t have the option to train him to learn the ability to level his skilling beyond 300. Because that’s impossible short of OP experiencing a bug, then the only explanation is that he needs to grind his skinning up to 305, which is a feat that OP sounds oblivious to being able to accomplish.
Hence, like I said, the issue is probably user error. The RNG I’m referring to is the simple fact that at that level (300), you can skin dozens of mobs without seeing a single skill increase. I’m aware that thresholds like level 61 mobs requiring 305 has nothing to do with RNG, but getting to 305 does, and grinding those 5 levels can be extremely tedious because most of the mobs in Hellfire are 61+.

The reason there is nothing for him is because he already learned Outland skinning. The reason he sees the error that he needs 305 skinning is because of mob level vs his skinning level, not because of lack of training.

Thanks guys, was away from computer for a few days. Tried again today and I’m figuring it’s a bug at this point lol. I’ll keep trying, I appreciate the suggestions.
Did you try skinning anything level 60 or under yet?
It’s not a bug if you have 300 skinning and you are trying to skin a level 61 boar. That’s working as designed. You can’t skin a level 61 animal until you have 305 skinning or higher. Same with herbalism and mining. Herbs and Ore all have specific skill requirements to gather them.
