My game was working fine about an hour ago. I log off to do something and now the game won’t launch. I press launch and it says launching but after a few seconds it goes back to saying play and wont do anything. It does this no matter what gamemode I choose. Yes I’ve done several scan/repair from the launcher, reset twice, and have updated my graphics drivers. Seems like no matter what I do I can’t get nothing to launch. I’ve even attemmpted to go into the file explore and attempted to rename the cache/wtf files so it would create new ones, but it does not even want to do that.

I have made progress. I uninstalled the 11.2.5 PTR and reinstalled that and launches now. The main WoW still won’t launch and I’d really rather avoid fully uninstalling WoW if I can.

For all of you having this issue: I have had this same issue since the beginning of TWW. It is not new, and it has to be well-known to Blizz & the WoW team by now. I think I’ve put in 4 or 5 tickets about it at this point. I have done every fix on every forum (including the outside forums) and thus far it’s complete hit or miss. Sometimes a simple scan and fix works. Other times I have to completely reinstall. Other times it just seems to resolve on its own after I leave it alone for a month. Blizz games have been the only ones to throw this bug. All we can do is just keep asking Blizz for a solution.
I recently ran into this when I upgraded from Win 10 to Win 11. Game ran fine for years previously, but some how the upgrade messed up being able to launch WoW.
Turns out I needed to download Microsoft items, some Runtime things & ASP Net something or other. Win Updater wasn’t identifying it, but my Norton software updater did.
Worked perfect after that, maybe it can help others.

Any chance you remember what exactly you downloaded from MS? I have been having this problem ever since I switched from win10 to Win 11
