Topic. If a user has their character’s profile “hidden”, you do not have the capability to block or ignore them since the button for that action does not appear on the page that informs you they are hidden.

This is especially true on Classic characters, because they have no profiles.
I can actually mute you if I want, and you’re on a Classic character.
A toon with a Hidden profile, the button is not there.

You can ignore posters through your own profile.
Open your profile and go to the Preferences tab. Under Notifications, click on ‘Users’. You can add characters to your ignore list by entering their charactername-realmname. You can even set the duration of the ignore.
Works equally well on retail and classic characters, regardless of whether their profile is hidden or not.

edit: Tried this out using Chrome and it bugs when attempting to save the user by telling me to select a timeframe even though I have selected one. I can mute from this page but not ignore.
Works as described for me in Firefox.
Muting doesn’t really do anything useful. You’ll still see my posts.
I see no option to ignore. Just mute, and muting is pretty useless. Their posts still show up.
I wonder what the difference is between our two accounts. I can access the ignore feature on both my retail and classic characters’ profiles. Could you try on a character above level 10?
You’ve gone to your own profile, under the Preferences tab, clicked Notifications, then Users, correct? There should be an interface where you can input the name-realm of characters you wish to ignore, directly below that is a similar interface for muting characters.
It shows THAT you posted. It hides the contents until I CHOOSE to open them.
Weird. Yeah, I have no option to Ignore, only Mute. And people I mute still shows their posts.
I logged out and logged in and my Mute list got wiped clean. Also…now I can’t edit my own posts that I made prior. Apparently my account on these forums is messed up.
Anyway, I only have one other character…a level 20 from Retail and he has no Ignore list under Users either. Just Mute.
This is how mute is working for me as well. The description of mute intentionally leaves out the reference to hiding posts from the user that is included in the description of ignore, so it makes sense. Only posts from people I’ve ignored get automatically collapsed in a thread. Muting simply suppresses notifications to you from that user such as if they reply to you or the like.
I would really love “Hide”, where I don’t see any thread a hidden character starts, or any replies from them (perhaps if nobody replies to them).
GD is flooded daily with a handful of bad actors and it is a bummer there is no solution.
Random update, but as of like today I suddenly have an Ignore option.
I wonder if it’s a trust level thing and I just went to a new level and this became available.
