Cannot get past "Fetching Encoding Table"

I need a little assistance. Last night when I finally had the time to play a little WoW I turned on the Battlenet launcher to allow it to patch for Tuesday 1/28. The program would not get past Fetching Encoding Table. I tried a couple of basic steps like disabling my antivirus & Firewall. Next, I tried to scan and repair my game (this worked last Tuesday with the same general issue) to no avail. Afterward, I decided to consult the mighty google and technical support forums and went through the following steps. I uninstalled the Battlenet app and rebooted my machine before installing Battlenet again. I uninstalled WoW (reboot etc.). I am currently sitting with my security settings lowered firewall, new ethernet cable jacked directly into the wall/modem (after a power cycle of both my router and FIOS Modem. My DxDiag is

Any help you folks can provide to get me past the Fetching encoding table bit would be greatly appreciated. Will check thread & respond as needed after work this evening.

in task manager, make sure WowVoiceProxy.exe is not running

Hi Rhystic

What antivirus do you have installed.

This is not running in services or processes

I have installed and turned off the following programs Avast, Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D, SUPERAntiSpyware, and ScanGuard. I am going to start uninstalling them to see if their not really off…

UPDATE: Uninstalled Avast and ScanGaurd. Slightly after uninstalling ScanGaurd Battlenet started to update; left it alone for about ~20 minutes game has 19GB remaining.

Thank you, for the responses and the subconscious nudges to help me to go a little further in trouble shooting this problem. I will be looking forward to playing after work this evening.

Yes it did have the looks of antivirus - most do not disable well. Need to be uninstalled temporarily.
