I have been trying to reach customer support but I keep getting generic responses and they are not reading my message.
I am stuck on the heroic Abberus skip quest. Since returning to wow I have killed Echo twice, and did not receive the Tome of the Earth Warder for the heroic skip both times.
I currently have 2/3 from before I took a break from WoW, but cannot get the third to finish the quest.
But instead of replying to me about my issue, they replied with a copy-pasta about the prepatch event.
First, can anyone help? If I drop the quest it will be very hard for me to get those 2/3 back. Each of the two kills I did recently were very time-consuming. I had to create my own raid for one, then spent about 2 hours applying to groups to get into a raid that would reach that boss. I guess I just drop the quest and forget about it?
Second, with how little Blizzard cares about its people, and how we are not taken seriously, no wonder why there are so many social issues in this game. I had been playing another MMO and sure there are rude people, but it seems like the social structure of WoW has completely dropped out. people don’t greet each other, and your only value in this game is your skill and your ability to help other people get the loot and accomplishments that they want.
I think blizzard should put more of an effort into showing people that this IS a community. They can afford to have someone read my ticket for 2 minutes.
Ok, that seems like they really are using the wrong template or are using a template that has generalized replies to the most common game hints people want right now.
Blizzard does not allow the GMs to give game hints, does not allow them to fix individual bugs on accounts (most of the time), and does not allow them to take bug reports.
Any ticket that they think is asking for that kind of thing gets a template pointing folks to the most common issues and player resources like Wowhead.
It’s not a game hint, the quest is obvious – you kill the boss and get the tome, 3 tomes and the quest is finished. I’m not whining, I’m voicing my opinion that Blizzard has poor bedside manner. If I need to drop the quest, then they can say that. It’s not a game hint.
No, they gave me a template about the prepatch event, when my issue has nothing to do with the prepatch event.
EDIT: I guess you guys don’t know what the raid skip quest is. Every raid has a skip quest that when finished allows you to skip ahead to the final few bosses.
To do the skip quest, you kill one of the bosses near the end x amount of times. For Dragonflight, this has been 3 times. There is a skip quest for every raid tier.
In this case, I’m not getting credit for killing the boss that unlocks this for the heroic version of Abberus, Echo of Neltharion. Once you kill him 3 times you’re SUPPOSED to be able to turn in the quest. However the item that is a 100% drop rate is not dropping.
I have zero need for a game hint. If blizzard could say “sorry but you’re bugged, you need to drop the quest” I’d take that.
But if it’s bugged, that’s not something a GM can recommend either. Unfortunately, what you need to do is report the bug. A GM is not typically in a position to help you or necessarily advise you otherwise in a situation like this.
That makes no sense. A GM can’t say “You’re bugged, you need to drop the quest. Sorry you lost all that time”? That takes less than two minutes.
So you want to hear them say that even if they might be wrong? They don’t necessarily know that you’re bugged but you want that to be the reply?
Okay.
When you eventually mark your ticket as resolved, you’re welcome to provide that feedback. The forums are not a means to provide feedback on GM replies unfortunately.
That would be ideal, of course. However the GMs don’t handle bugs at all, and unless they are told about a specific one, they likely don’t know it exists. QA and the game Dev teams handle bugs and game changes. GMs only know what they are told are confirmed bugs.
Keep in mind, GMs are not specific to WoW, they handle all Blizzard games and services, so they are not WoW experts specifically.
Have you checked Wowhead and the Bug Report forum to see if others are having the same issue you are? Sometimes that will be the public first indication something is bugged.
That is a game hint, whether you want to classify it as such or not. GM’s cannot give game hints. Even if that hint is that there’s a bug, they are not authorized to say anything unless that specific quest in that specific situation under specific parameters has been approved to give an official workaround.
Everyone has told you that GM’s cannot give game hints and they are not the correct place to report bugs. The fact that you cannot accept that does not reflect upon Perl’s “actions”.
Ironic…
You won’t accept any help, though. Do you see where the toxicity is coming from? You got an answer, and you simply don’t like it. That’s not on anyone but you.
Here’s something helpful. Move your thread to the Bug Report forum by mousing over your initial list. There will be a pencil icon to edit it and move it.
Alternatively, try posting in the Quest forum or looking on WoWHead for help with your quest.
1.) Drop the quests and try again. We’re a month away from the xpac launch and once everyone is max level again, there will be plenty of transmog runs in TWW.
2.) Keep the quest and hope they fix this bug soon. Did you send in a bug report or make a bug report on their forums? Sorry if you already answered this question. Anyways, if enough people complain, maybe they’ll fix it faster.
Id suspect if the quest you had was started prior to this current tier thats where your issue may be.
This tier things are awakened, it reset everything including logs etc into its own category. So if you have 2 non awakened kills and now trying in the awakened system, that might be why you are not getting quest credit items.
You may just need to drop the quest and re kill them.
Thank you Tovi and Ayukama for the constructive responses. I will file a bug report, delete the quest and cut my losses I guess. I was hoping there was another way
I’ve thought it might be this. I finished up a ton of these quests last week that I had started in previous tiers, but now that I think about it I don’t think I specifically did heroic echo. I’ll include this in the bug report
I would suspect it’s because it was started before Awakened was a thing as well. I know it’s working properly for awakened raids if started after the fact, I unlocked the raid skips then.
Since all raids are awakened all the time now you will likely either need to delete and redo the quest or wait until you can access non awakened version next expansion.
I figured it out. I just killed echo on a different toon on heroic, definitely heroic, but a normal tome dropped. Since the character that I just killed echo on didn’t have that quest, it was able to drop. So the bug is that the normal tome of the earth warder drops on heroic difficulty
