Cannot get addons to work

Before I start, I have not installed the expansion yet. My account is still set to shadowlands. I just have been busy leveling characters, and frankly, wasn’t expecting the expansion until like march of this year. Not sure if not having the expansion installed makes a difference, but there it is.

With that said, I went to curseforge, installed silver dragon, so I could see the rares and what not. I unzipped the folder, and placed the file there inside the world of warcraft/retail/interface/addons. And then placed it in that addons folder.

I dunno, when I log in, at the toon select screen, there used to be an addons button right in the bottom corner. Now, I cannot see that. I used to be able to turn addons on or off from that log in Interface. For some reason, that addons tab is not showing up.

I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I tried opening the file again. It said something like silverdragon v2.4.3. Something like that. I opened that folder and pasted the one that was inside that folder in the addons folder. It still won’t work.

In shadowlands, I remember just pasting the silver dragon folder, along with the accompanying expansions. There was one called silver dragon, then wrath of the lich king, burning crusade, vanilla, cataclysm, warlord’s of draenor, pandaria, etc. And you had all those folders pasted in tandem with the silverdragon folder.

I still have no idea what I am doing wrong at this point. It looks completely different than how I remember installing the addon In shadowlands expansion. If anyone could help, or maybe even has silverdragon addon installed themselves for dragonflight, I would be greatful. That you.

You need to take the three folders inside of the silverdragon-v2023.1 folder after the unzip. Paste those three into the folder, otherwise it won’t recognize it.

Also be sure to grab the right wow version, in your post you were talking about something that would have been used for tbc classic.

I figured it out. I was on the wrong hard drive. My disc drive C drive was full, so I had to reinstall It on the other one. Once I moved the files over there, It worked.

Thank you.

I remember having to do that when dragonflight pre patch launched. Oh well. Noob lesson learned. We can lock thread now.

I guess that is wierd to me though, I assumed the one on the other drive was uninstalled. I guess that never happened. Like that was so wierd. I technically have retail wow installed in 2 places, one is just out of date to shadowlands probably. But I don’t know why it didn’t uninstall it when I had to reinstall the game to The second drive. Wierd.

Boy do I have some news for you.

Well technically it is installed otherwise the game would crash trying to load assets, items not on the drive. But w/e.
