I just deleted an alt to make a new character, and received the error message after finishing customization “You already have the maximum allowed number of characters on this account.” … but I just deleted 5 alts? (I’ve now continued deleting alts to see if it will enable me to make a new character.)
Is there a new limit on how many alts I can have? What about the alts I just deleted to get their saved names?

There’s a lot of issues right now, they released the patch with a lot of them… Addon UIs aren’t working for me keep getting this error.
Why is it so difficult to contact Customer Support? There’s no category for “Your game wont let me make new characters.” If I go to can’t make new character, it assumes im trying to make a horde on an alliance realm in classic and has no other options.
Its probably lagging, so it doesn’t register yet that the toon has been deleted
I agree with you that’s probably what’s happening.
Do you have any idea how to open a ticket if their drop down menu doesn’t describe the problem you’re having? I can’t navigate this customer service page for the life of me.
