Cannot add sockets to new neck piece

It figures…sigh. I picked up some nice Champion pieces and so far have only tried socketing the neck piece I purchased. Thanks for your feedback.

I keep forgetting that whenever something new is dropped into the game, we tend to run into things like this. It frustrating because its a pattern that repeats itself. You would think by now they would have realized this and accounted for its possibility.

Just ran into this tonight. I go and buy the Tiered Medallions to find out that the Choker doesn’t work with them. Such crap. Seems like anytime there’s a bug that doesn’t provide the player with any kind of buff, they take their sweet time to fix it. But, if this was broken the opposite way like being able to apply sockets to a weapon or something it would be fixed immediately.

Same issue with Hero level Flowform Choker from Firelands Timewalker raid. I get the message my settings are not of enough quality to add a socket to that piece. It’s not strictly all Timewalker gear because I added sockets to a Champion level neck just prior in the same raid. There is no point in using it or upgrading it if it will not be able to get sockets.

I tried to add a socket to my ring and got the same error. I can’t add sockets to the Dreambound gear that I turned into tier pieces either.

You can now but the fix is not retroactive per Bliz’s hotfix info.

Items

  • Sockets may now be added to Dreamsurge gear.
    • Developers’ notes: Gear that was acquired through the Dreamsurge before this hotfix will not be eligible for socketing.

So I gotta rebuy mine before I can socket it? Lame. All my other ones could be socketed, but I bought 1 before it was fixed apparently.

Yes, I had to wait until reset in order to redo that Dreamsurge event just to get the crystal to purchase my replacement.
