Cancelled Warfronts

I was Google searching then I found this on WowHead.

When used in-game, this command will print the following lines of text in your chatbox:
Barrens Warfront: Attack the Southern Barrens and break through the Great Gates of Mulgore.
Silvermoon Warfront: Assault the final Horde bastion on the Eastern Kingdoms, and cleanse our land of their filth.
Azshara Warfront: Launch a massive Naval assault on the home of Gallywix. Bilgewater will burn.
Battle for Stromgarde: Donate supplies to the war effort as the impending battle over Arathi Highlands nears.
Although these lines are clearly from an Alliance player’s standpoint, using the script on a Horde character returns the same lines. After Stromgarde, it’s clear that the Alliance decided to go on the offensive and attack several key Horde locations in both Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. It will be interesting to see if more Warfronts dialogue and locations are added in Alliance territories, keeping the war at a stalemate, or if the Alliance will simply push through into Horde areas, balancing the loss of Teldrassil. When used in-game, this command will print the following lines of text in your chatbox:

Why is this so disappointing? It tells me there were plans for cool lead-offs to the foreshadowed plot threads! Think about it: Southern Barrens, Azshara, SILVERMOON?! These war-fronts would have been awesome! There were a ton of hints laid with the Windrunners comic and the Void Elf and Nightborne quests that something would have happened in Eversong.
Yeah, this is old news, so I’m late. Now I’m wondering about how cool it could’ve been if this saga was more straight-forward. Will we have replacement lore for the cut-content in these zones?

If we had more of this, less azshara/nzoth I think bfa would have been better.

Those two deserved their own expansions.

Know what was promised would happen this expac? The cannon in azshara would fire. Blizz doesnt follow through on a heck of a lot these days.

Naaah, I prefer a total slog through aimless talking heads that don’t accomplish a single thing for my WoW plots.

At this point, unless it’s on the PTR, I don’t get excited.

A lot of the more “hype” things they seem to want to do doesn’t show up.

The Barrens one Blizz has commented on that it was an idea way back in BfA alpha testing that was scrapped pretty early on. But some stray of lines of it were still there in the code and were datamined. It was never actually going to be a thing though.

Likely goes for Silvermoon and Azhsara too. But yeah could have been cool! BfA could have done more expanded faction war stuff.

I’m aware of this but it still strikes me weird how there’s remnants of each plot-line. Alliance stormed Gallywix’s Pleasure Palace. A ballad of Table missions for the Southern Barrens. All of the Void Elf and Nightborne Silvermoon lore.

Then the guy that roleplays nathanos whined it’s not all about his waifu, and bfa was ruined.

Everyone needs a pleasure palace. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Not our fault Gallywix won’t share his.

I think that was changed to the war campaign quests though. In the Alliance campaign we team up with Umbric and attack Gallywix at his palace. Which kind of makes more sense than a full scale warfront.

it seems like they’ve abandoned warfronts, they are irrelevant now and they haven’t upped the ilvl rewards so I don’t see anyone doing them except first timers and maybe for tmog. some of those sound interesting, but overall I don’t think it would make bfa better.

Pleasure palace full of goblins sounds like a bad casino where people go broke.

Blizzard is really good at creating some conceptually good content, half arsing it, and then abandoning it so you’re just left there wondering what they were thinking.

See: Islands, Warfronts, Garrisons, Invasions, Research trees for both Legion and BFA, etc.

Upgradable tomes and quivers…

Warfronts turned out to be fairly lackluster in part because neither their difficulty nor the rewards kept pace with anything else in the expansion. They should have allowed raid groups attempt heroic and mythic difficulty versions from day 1.

I know that some people may not understand the difference but it’s entirely likely that Blizz only intended to go with 2 warfronts and the text (if it was truly datamined as claimed) represents competing ideas that were never developed because arathi and darkshore were shown as better suited.

That’s very doubtful. I am sad to see a lot of potential content being cut, but I don’t think throwing in more warfronts would make people hate warfronts less.

To me it wouldn’t have made or broke anything. People didn’t like warfronts. Adding more wouldn’t have helped in that regard. The response would have been “Really? More of this lame A** content.”

They can both totally suck.
