I haven’t read that one, so it might say that. I just go to the Discord itself and they list Mind’s Eye in all of their builds.

Yeah, I think the one thing I would say about Distorted Reality is it’s a good “training wheels talent” because it takes away some of the spec’s complexity (DP Uptime) that you may be struggling with. Idk if it’s possible to play the spec so sub optimally that the uptime increase from having 2x DP length is worthwhile, but it is an option for newer or less experienced players.

Every guide I’ve read says Mind’s eye is the right way to go. But also, Every guide tells me to take mind spike over flay, but when I take Mental Decay and Void Touched over Mind Spike and Mind Melt I also see an increase in DPS.

It does but MT doesn’t mean keys. It means prolonged multi target like council style raid bosses.

Flay is superior anyway, it’s a better looking spell

My opinion: No one in this thread knows how to play Spriest. Maybe no one at all does. Sounds like even the guides give information all over the place.

So you just all argue with each other.

Honestly I learned quite a bit about Shadow just reading this thread. I don’t really mess with that spec like that, but it’s nice to gain some knowledge for when I want to change things up.

The guides are garbage, and have been all through DF. Many of them still list SL builds.

The difference between these two on ST is like 1.5%, so yeah you can play either or and get completely fine results. Especially because you do likely play better with one the you’re more comfortable with / enjoy.

Even Dota of Method killed Sarkareth with mind flay over spike, and when asked why he just said he hated mind spike and that there was no numerical reason at all.

I hate guides too but usually use one when I first start playing. It’s cool to hear Mind flay does more damage for you. When I tried priest I hated mind spike

Can’t speak for anyone else here but I am the wowhead writer for shadow and one of the main TCers for the spec.

Is that like a degree in Shadow Priest lol :stuck_out_tongue:
Just being silly not mean. Thats pretty cool.

I generally use the wowhead builds but watch Publiks videos for guides lol.

I’ve been meaning to ask - do you genuinely know many spriests who prefer Mind Spike? I personally dislike it because it feels so similar to Mind Blast to me. At least when I played Arcane and Arcane Blast and Missiles had a bit of overlap, they were still different enough spells.

Would it be too strong to make Mind Spike instant cast when it proc’d? That would make it even more similar to Mind Blast, I know, but I hate Mind Spike so much lol. I would love Mind Flay procs that allowed you to move.

Honestly that’s very out of the ordinary, I could hazard a few guesses at why that’s the case but hard to know for sure without the sim in front of me.

Main guess is that the uptime difference on DP between the two is very high because of your ilvl / haste.

yea, my gear is trash, not even a set.

Incoming notifications for you lol.

I’ll start…

Is there any benefit to just pure stacking Haste and Mastery? Your guide has some Crit gear thrown in here and there, but let’s say I stacked pure Haste and Mastery on every single slot, would I lose out on some DPS because of DR?

I don’t personally mind it, though that’s more because I dislike having either filler compared to the gameplay we had of having both. I don’t know anyone with an explicit fondness for spike, but I do know people as you say who really dislike it.
