Hey folks,
Just leaving my feedback as per the instructions. I gave it a try - the 10.1 Shadow Priest rework - and while I can appreciate some of the changes they’ve made to simplify the rotation, the absolute lack of mobility in the rotation makes it just feel terrible to play and I cannot understand how the decision was made to get rid of it all together.
I gave it a try, raided one week, did some M+… I did OK performance wise. I recognize this raid itself was basically designed as an apology to ranged casters for Vault of the Incarnates and the John Madden plays each boss required every character to run… but the fact of the matter is as much as so many ranged classes suffered on Vaults, it was doable and even fun to bank instant cast procs for high movement and as annoying as it could be, it felt rewarding to make bursts of movement with losing minimal DPS because you planned ahead.
The whole “stand in place and spam spells constantly” … let’s just say if I found that gameplay appealing, I’d be playing on Classic. It’s boring. The design philosophy for the class is just so at odds with modern game design. And then you do have those odd fights like Neltharion that do insist on more movement that most and the whole thing just feels like garbage.
Lastly, minor quibble, but I also hate this awkward period where I’m getting good loot, but can’t replace anything because I don’t want to break my 4 set from the previous tier, so it just sits in my bank until I finally get lucky enough to get the right pieces at a high enough ilvl to Sim. Withholding the Catalyst Creation thing for 6 weeks is a mistake and I know this is a bit of a hot-take but I’ve candidly always hated tier sets anyway as it feels like my class is being time-gated and I just need to wait 6 weeks to be functional again unless I get lucky.
Anyway, I’ll probably be back at some point - no you can’t have my gold, I’m poor as hell anyway - but yeah, big L on the Shadow Priest rework for me. See you all later I’m sure.

Aren’t shadow priests currently gods in raids and mythics?
Kinda sounds like they’re doing fine

They are doing rather well numbers-wise, yes. I have no issue with low damage.
My issue is being a turret isn’t fun. The only way we get away with it is most fights allow ranged casters to stand in place for most of the fight while doing obvious mechanics that shake melee off them and hit their uptime, reducing their performance.
It’s a gameplay issue vs. performance.

If they have adds to pad on they are doing great.
Single target they are one of the worst specs.
What does this even mean? Priests have never had “mobility in their rotation”.
You’re complaining about something that has to do with the Priest class (And has always been a part of the class), and attributing it to the rework (Which was positive).
Please tell me how Shadow Priests used to be “mobile”.
That does not make a class “mobile”. Mobility is Gust of Wind. Mobility is Blink.
Using an instant-cast while you run is just playing your class.
If that’s what you’re complaining about, and two stacks of Devouring Plague/Mind Blast/Shadow Word Pain/Shadow Crash/Shadow Word: Death/Divine Star aren’t enough instant casts for you while you move, then I hate to say it, but you’re playing your class wrong and you need to find another one, or find another game.

Yea, I enjoy DF shadow priest more at launch. These recent changes kind made it boring.
By the way, seems only the Mind Flay casting tendrils are being summoned on my Spriest but not the ones that cast Mind Sear. Haven’t seen one since the patch was released.

Lack of mobility? What do you do set there and spam Mind Flay?
The spriest rework was great compared to release. I think you are uninformed on how your spec works or overwhelmed. There are easier dps specs to play.
Bud you’ve got some instant casts. Use them during movement.
This is how WoW has worked since the beginning.

Just a story…
I logged into a level 50 disc priest to level her and found her in Shadow. Looked at the action bars, whose buttons in no way resembled a rotation. Looked at the talent tree. Logged off.

Effort is hard to move buttons on bars and export a build from icy veins.
So hard.

I haven’t played Shadow since Ashran in wod. I see no reason to prioritize that character over others that will not require me to do research before I can kill stuff. Feel free to hate me for not being like you.
As the old song goes, I don’t care what you do, I wouldn’t want to be like you.

Hate you?
You okay? I don’t hate you lmao. Chill.
I just don’t understand the point of your comment. You didn’t even take a min to read anything. So it’s pointless and offers nothing to the conversation.
Yes priest is bloated but their rotation is not anymore.
If you don’t want to play your priest that’s fine and dandy but don’t crap on the spec when you didn’t even put 2 mins of effort into reading tooltips.

You responded to me by attacking me for not knowing how to play shadow after not playing it for like 8 years, and even then only in PvP. For having logged into a character that I left in one spec and found it in a completely different spec.
Hey, you do you, which clearly involves puffing up your ego even more.
Then there was no need to attack me and claim it should take me 10 seconds to figure out how to play? Which I owed to you, because you positioned yourself as a malignant stranger who deserves to be obeyed?
Yeah, you do you. I sure as heck wouldn’t want to be like you.

Sorry you feel attacked. Be less sensitive.
Telling someone to read tooltips and put effort into something is not an attack.

I have put more than 2 minutes into reading the tooltips. Didn’t seem to make a dent in your aggressiveness.
Not sure if it’s your intention, but it sounds like you are legitimately angry at anyone who doesn’t like the 10.1 rework and are just trying to pick fights with anyone who disagrees with you.
If you are actually maining priest (cant tell based on that character), I’m glad you are enjoying it. I had my issues with it in 10.0… it was overly complicated, but I got it down.
10.1 was a definite step in the wrong direction for me and has made the game no longer fun, so I’m taking a break.

Not a main, played sp since vanilla though. Quit DF last week. The rework was great. Keep practicing. Move your devouring plague around for heavy burst in AoE. It’s so much easier than sear.
As far as the other guy goes… I can’t help someone feels attacked over being told effort is hard. Not my problem.
The “hate me if you want” kind of goes hand and hand with that person’s problems.
They definitely aren’t mine. Escalated very quickly. Probably bait.
Pretty sure I have only spoke to one person here. Unless you feel attacked now too? Lmao

Interesting comment, since that’s what bullies always say about their victims.
You remind me of my ex, who when I bought a book to understand how something obscure is done, like glassblowing, felt afterwards that I was now obligated to build a shop and started doing that.
I would tell you to be more self-aware when you are overcome by the irresistible urge to attack someone you see as inferior to yourself and deserving of being attacked, but I don’t think you are capable of that.

Take care /ignored.
Be less sensitive. Take a break from forums.
Put effort into a class before complaining.

I don’t mean to be rude, but are you saying the way to play Shadow Priest is insure Devouring Plague is on multiple targets? That’s just not accurate at all.
You do realize that has nothing to do with our AOE damage - it’s Vampiric Touch that needs to be on multiple targets for AOE DPS. DP and SWP are just a force multiplers that needs to be on your primary target (in addition to VT) so you maximize your output from Psychic Link and your mastery.

I suggest you read icy veins I can’t help you.
I wasn’t even talking about VT or SwP anyone who plays shadow knows the basics bro.

Yeah… I’m aware.
