Cancelled five auctions this morning, three that had been placed before maintenance - only received two items back. The three older ones are now missing (amongst others).
Keeps saying I have mail, although my mailbox appears empty.

yes i noticed that the character screen isn’t showing if a character has mail before logging into that character.
I disabled all addons exited and restarted. unread mail icon is showing but noting is in the mailbox.
i had a ton of potions on the ah. either they sold and I should have lots of gold, or the 800 items should have been returned.

I’m also having the same issue as you all, on this character, and a couple of my other characters. I put in a support ticket, and the response was to rename a few folders in the retail folder to make WoW generate new ones so it thinks there are no addons.
Even after I did that, I’m still having this issue, where I know I have expired auctions that would have expired during the patch downtime, and the “You have unread mail” notification is showing up, but no mail is showing up when I check my mailbox.
I’m able to see and retrieve auctions that were posted after the new patch just fine, it is the one that were still up when downtime started that are missing.
I’m also having the related issue of the mail icon on the character select screen not showing up.
Hopefully the more people who add to this thread letting Blizzard know they have the same issue, the higher priority this bug will get. Seems like a pretty urgent one to fix, I’ve read in some other threads about this issue that people are missing millions of gold’s worth of expired auctions.

Renaming those wow folders has been the default blizzard response for at least the last 20 years. I would love to see the the real numbers as to if this has ever fixed anything. 
In the last week i have spent MANY hours trying to get help from various BIG companies that I have achieved w/e exalted state comes after screaming and slamming your face on the desk. Their cookie-cutter, boilerplate responses never work either lol.
Renaming those folders just means I have to find the login password, and when i get in, turn down the insanely loud music and other sounds settings before i go deaf or my headphones bow out.
Then I have to remember how I was getting WoW to open on a specific monitor (not default) because that is lost as well.
These are the only discernible changes that occur and none for the better.
Just to be clear, I did try this a few minutes ago. The above items listed, did just occur.
However, this did NOT fix the mailbox bug.

For some reason I’m not receiving mail from the auction house. I canceled listing for a few items on the auction house, and I can see the ‘unread mail icon’ but when I go to my mail box to get mail it’s empty.
I thought with all the undermine launch yesterday I’d just wait but logged on today and still the same issue. Mail seems to be fine for my other toons (from same server if that matters). Then I bought smth on the auction house and I got the item instantly but my listing seems to have vanished… (the items were 40 lava corals if that matters, I think some of them sold as well but didn’t receive the gold either)

I invested all my saving into bloodstone, and now it gone 
Start with a UI reset.
A lot of addons have been updated a few times over the past few days in the wake of the new patch and can behave weirdly when they become outdated.
It’s also a good standard practice even if you don’t use addons because display elements can have a tendency to wig out on their own, as well.

I had the same issue, Auctions I posted before the patch straight up disappeared after I cancelled them (after the patch). I to have the unread mail notification. I got the same stock answer when I put in a ticket to delete my cache, interface and wtf folders. That of course did nothing.
I assume at this point Blizzard is aware of the problem and will track down a fix, figure out what disappeared from everyone and then return it to us, but who knows how long that will take, meanwhile I am out hundreds of thousands of gold.

Also having the same issue with a canceled auction, and the mail in my mailbox that I cannot retrieve is actually blocking the faction change I purchased yesterday. Renamed wtf/interface/cache folders, disabled addons… currently have an open ticket.

There are a number of AH mail bugs noted here:
I know of at least one of other person seeing what you are seeing here.
Suggest moving this to bugs so it can be seen by the people who collect the bug info for the devs. Or add to one of the existing ones.

I really appreciate you following the instructions to reset your UI.
I need to tell you that this is actually tied to a bug affecting several players after the patch. The issue seems to be causing “missing” items from expired auctions and mail not displaying correctly. What is actually happening is that the auction house mail is on your character’s mailbox, but the bug makes it so that players can’t see it normally.The good news is that the development team is already aware of this bug and is working on a fix. Your items are still logged in the system, but due to a display issue, they aren’t showing up right now. Once the fix is applied, everything should return to normal, and you’ll be able to access everything without a problem.

Same here, the only response I got was to report the bug and they are aware.
Not a rich goblin here but 500K (75% of what I have) is a lot of lost gold for me. and without being unable to flip it for profit probably it would be a bigger loss.

Same issue here. I lost about 170 blasphemite when I canceled the auction. I put in a ticket, the GM said he was can see it in my mail but it’s not there. He recommended resetting my ui and files in the wow folder. Nothing helped. Sounds like it’s a problem on Blizz’s end.

same issue lads. was around 50k in items and for a broke boy like me 50k is kinda alot. hope it gets fixed soon
Also having the same issue. Mail after the patch seems to be coming through fine, but some point between servers going down and coming back up, something seems to of broken. Only my one character has a permanent ‘You have unread mail.’ Icon up, but when I check the mail, there’s none there. The icon will vanish while checking the mailbox, but after leaving it re-pops up.
I am having this issue too. I opened a ticket with support and they said they know its an issue and no ETA on when it will be fixed…
I was not told anything to fix it just they were looking into it. Huh, they don’t seem to have any clue of what is happening.

Also have missing items in mailbox on multiple characters. Stack of 50 determined bloodstones missing on my JC.

During this last patch, I had over 7 million worth of Flasks, Potions, Phials, etc that are all 100% missing now.
Yesterday I cancel one of them (1000x chaos flasks) and never showed up in mailbox.
Now all my AH items are expired and all are missing. I have a mail icon, but no mail.
I’ve removed all add-ons, the cache folder and WTF folder… still all missing.
I tried testing some stuff yesterday… posted an item, canceled and it showed up fine in my mailbox. This patch just wiped out all my items I had posted on the AH(I think I listed them for 48 hours on Sunday)
Very happy to see others are also experiencing this… I just submitted a ticket and haven’t heard back yet.
Very stressful though… When you invest so much into crafting and putting up on AH and it disappears overnight…
