Cancel casting heals

I’ve been thinking about current healing and the whole “using your healing cooldowns to buff yourself feels so risky because people might die in that global cooldown” thing this week.

I’m so looking forward to a world where I can heal a tank who has a time to die that is long enough that I can cancel cast heals and get some out of the 5 second rule regeneration. The current mythic+ would probably have the tank dead before your got to the 5 second rule. Just saying.

Resource management used to be crucial, when your class had…resources. It was a real RPG where you had to actually think ahead. There used to be a lot of finesse involved. But that wasn’t exciting enough to make wow into an Esport. And today the game is an aoe-zerg fest that involves the mindless spamming of abilities that light up.

It’s like the difference between a good movie about ideas, that takes the time to develop the story and build the suspense, and then delivers a quality ending Vs. a Michael Bay film with EXPLOSIONS!!!

(But Veskr I really like Michael Bay’s movies LOL)

I could be wrong, but I think I read that the 5 second count will reset at the beginning of the cast. So I guess if you’re constantly pre-casting and cancelling your heals, you won’t get the benefit of the regen.

Yeah I was wrong since this will be 1.12.

It changed to starting the count after the cast was completed in 1.4 if anybody cares.

It was from when you spent the mana. Priests would active inner focus (next heal free and 100% crit) to game the five second rule. That heal didin’t count because it didn’t cost mana. Cancel cast the inner focus heal until needed. Then cancel cast the next one until needed (and you get the increased regen from 5 seconds after your last cast that costs mana through the inner focus heal until the heal after that goes off.

Aoe zerging in mythics +s.

I do miss healing in wow when every fast heal wasn’t a copy cat of priest flash heal, like paladin heals that cost less mana and heal less and shamans with 3 or 4 differen’t healing spells with their own mana cost and hit mark.

Healing is somewhat as bad as casters spamming instant hard hitting abilities.

But yeah it was nice to take 5 sec to heal at the right time in order to conserve mana.
Huge lack of resource management monks resource management with chii wasn’t really resource management but more like a rotation.

But there are many npcs that can kill players less then 5 sec in classic especially in instances especially if they charge in like they do in mythic dungeons. Like 2 1/2 sec dead melee.
