ITT, Canadians thinking they have agency and calling UK spelling “Canadian” in a last ditch attempt to feel validated.
Guys, time to realise you’re just subjects of Queen.

This is fair.
This is why Canada is so clean, because they want to make mum proud.

I’ve lived in the US my entire life and literally never heard someone pronounce “poor” so the “oo” was the same as in “food”
How is Canada “Clean” ? We literally threw out a Governor General because she was corrupt and using her office to bolster her personal life and spending. We have massive household debt, higher than most western nations, and higher than the United States. Our road infrastructure is crumbling, our national economy is build around Oil and Petrol. Our manufacturing sector has been massively exported, meaning we need to use massive tankers to get anything brought into the country. We depend on external nations for most of our goods, unable to fend for ourselves in a crisis.
“Clean” is a very “Canadian” thing to say : highly smug and based in a distorted reality.
I am an American. I spell colour, humour and other words like that CORRECTLY! With the letter U in them! Bloody hell you yanks need to embrace British swears. They are so cool. Nothing like calling someone a manky git.
i saw the question somewhere, i kinda wondered about it myself as i have heard both words used.
Didn’t mean to trigger you bud, I hope your day gets better.
Being aware of the current state of Canada is not me being “triggered”. I’m just aware. And Canadian smugness has been a thing for decades, I don’t lose sleep over it, I just laugh at them.
k, your hatred of Canadians doesn’t effect the cleanliness of their cities.
Being a Canadian myself, I laugh at the prospect that the cities are clean.
Maybe Dawson City in Yukon is clean, I dunno. But for sure, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver are really dirty.
Maybe you need to actually travel around if you think Canadian cities are “clean”.
You should have gotten the clue I’m Canadian btw from my spelling of “realise”.
Pur similar to the way cats vibrate?
In some parts of England they do pronounce it ‘poo-eh’. In my case the West Midlands, specifically a region called The Black Country (named because of its history of heavy coal and industrial works).
They also say things like ‘Row-ud’ instead of road, and ‘doo-eh’ instead of door. Or rather they used to, because like everywhere regional accents are being wiped out.
It has some hold-overs from old English with saying things like ‘yow’ instead of ‘you’, and '‘ow bist ya?’ meaning ‘how are you?’
In Australia our English is to just use as much shortcuts as possible. We abbreviated Melbourne cricket ground to MCG we then abbreviated MCG to “the G”. mcDonalds = maccas, ect ect.
I’ve lived in the Western United States for my whole 40 years of life, Floor and Poor have always been pronounced the same. They both sound like pour pore store sore, so I’m confused about this. Also being in the military, we use the metric system for most things.
Ya buddy doe’s guys spell gud eh?
What aboot it?
Canadian spelling has been influenced by French Canadians, a lot of the spelling is derived from French wording. that’s why you see "u’ in some things
US English.
I love your accents
There was a period of time when the English were infatuated by everything French. That is when UK English became more French. While the US English kept the more traditional spellings.
Yes, and as a westerner the French still annoy me for some reason
